St. Samuel Church's underground area still looked familiar to Alice. Its layout was actually not that different from the church beneath Tingen City, only much larger, with seemingly more people as well.
Alice's arrival suddenly made the place fall silent. She blinked her eyes at the doorway, withdrew the foot she had stepped inside with, politely knocked twice on the nonexistent door, and only then asked:
"Um... I'm looking for Archbishop Anthony."
She paused. Without waiting for anyone to respond, she stepped in with her other foot and, familiar with the way, pushed open a door and entered.
Archbishop Anthony raised his head from behind the desk, quietly watching her close the door without taking the initiative to speak.
The tranquil atmosphere made Alice feel nervous, but she quickly remembered what had happened to her earlier and became justified again.
She closed the door, walked up to the desk, looked down at Anthony from above, and shouted as fiercely as she could:
"What is it!"
This only made her seem guilty. Anthony did not take her attitude seriously, merely smiling gently and patiently asking:
"Miss Fortune... may I address you that way?"
You...?
Alice froze for a moment. She could actually tell that when Archbishop Anthony addressed her this way, it was not like when she called Amon that—outwardly respectful, but actually dripping with sarcasm.
Archbishop Anthony truly meant it respectfully.
That was rather strange—because Archbishop Anthony was sitting in a chair, while the Miss Fortune he respected was standing.
But if he got up to fetch me a chair or offer me his seat, that would be pretty strange too... After staring at Archbishop Anthony and the Evernight Holy Emblem behind him for several seconds, Alice reached that conclusion.
Alice instinctively looked around, but there were no spare chairs
