After reflecting on life, Alice began sorting through the knowledge in her potion.
Though she had learned from Cassandra that the biggest problem probably lay with the Soothsayer, Alice still reviewed its abilities for comparison.
The Chaoswalker's main abilities were a domain and a movement technique. Alice glanced through them and found that the precautions had been deleted as well.
That was hardly surprising. Finding nothing else worth noting, Alice stopped thinking about it.
She already had the Soothsayer Beyonder Characteristics in hand—and more than one. Only two things stood between her and Sequence 2: digesting the Chaoswalker potion and obtaining some River Water of the River of Fate.
But the river water...
Alice held out her arm, rolled up her sleeve, and stared at it in deep thought.
Alice had once puzzled over where the River of Fate was. She suspected there was one in the Spirit World—perhaps the river itself, though a projection of some kind seemed more likely. Either way, water from the Spirit World should be enough for her advancement.
She had also worried about how to collect the water, but that problem was easy enough to solve. The unidentified hide she had brought back from Ricciardo struck her as a fine container.
But after using Restart and Fate Cycle time and again, and coming into contact with the River of Fate during multiple advancements, Alice had gradually formed another theory.
Could the blood of a Snake of Mercury count as river water, in a sense?
As one of the rare exceptions among Beyonders, Alice had some authority on the matter. Her perception was especially clear when she used abilities belonging to the Snake of Mercury or even the Soothsayer.
Angels of the Fate pathway seemed to have already become part of the River of Fate.
