Ch. 123Do I Look More Even-Tempered Than the Fool?

Alice provoked Amon with her drawings and questions, while trying to work out why he kept her alive. The next morning, Amon showed her a stolen Provoker potion and stopped her from going to church, leaving her unsure whether his explanation was true or another lie.

  • Alice explained that she made fan art of people she liked, and Amon said he might have invited her to become his Blessed if he had not seen the drawings.
  • Alice asked whether Amon liked men and whether he was more even-tempered than the Fool; Amon told her to stop talking and go to sleep.
  • As she prepared to bathe, Alice asked whether Amon had a female appearance, and Amon vanished.
  • Alice wondered whether Amon kept her alive because he needed something from her memories or was deceiving her, then went to sleep.
  • The next morning, Amon showed Alice a Provoker potion he had stolen and answered her question about lockpicking before she left for church.
  • Amon stopped Alice on her way to church and said it would be boring if he knew everything she was thinking, asking her to guess whether he was telling the truth.

Ch. 124Why Aren't You Called Eve?

Klein discovered Amon beside Alice and realized he could do nothing to protect her, while Amon confronted Alice about her knowledge of him and her origins. Their conversation ended with Amon suggesting that Sasrir, rather than he, might be the one who should be called Eve.

  • Klein saw Amon standing beside Alice through the Gray Fog, and Amon noticed his gaze before Klein severed the connection.
  • Amon told Alice that the Fool cared about her and questioned her knowledge of his titles, abilities, and Honorific Name.
  • Alice asked whether a Sequence could make a written story real, and Amon identified Sequence 1, Writer, and mentioned Adam.
  • Alice asked why Amon was not called Eve after recounting a creation myth, and Amon said someone else might deserve the name and asked whether she had heard of Sasrir.

Ch. 125You and Your Brother Both Are

Alice asked Amon whether he and his brother were gay after learning that her friend had read a book about Amon and The Fool’s romance. Amon teased Alice about the people who admired him, gave her a Provoker potion, and left her realizing Adam might have heard her question too.

  • Alice asked Amon whether he and his brother were both gay, and Amon threatened her before offering to make her his Blessed.
  • Alice explained that her friend had read a book about Amon and The Fool, and Amon suggested that an 'author' might have written it.
  • Amon gave Alice a Provoker potion as a memento and asked whether the book had made people like him.
  • Alice speculated that the book might describe the world they lived in and warned Amon that admirers of dragons might fear meeting a real one.
  • Amon pointed out that Alice did not seem afraid of powerful beings, then revealed that Adam may have heard her question about him and his brother.
  • Alice concluded that Adam might become the third Sequence 1 who wanted her dead and told Amon that he was the second.

Ch. 126One Body

Alice told Amon that Will Auceptin wanted to use her as the ingredient for advancing to Sequence 0, and Amon questioned why she could serve that role. After Alice gave him her name, Amon changed his mind and stole her memories, leaving her body collapsed on the ground.

  • Amon teased Alice about the Sequence 1 who wanted to kill her and offered to help deal with her.
  • Alice revealed that Will Auceptin, a Snake of Mercury from the School of Life, wanted to use her as the ingredient for advancing to Sequence 0.
  • Amon questioned Alice's ability to serve as a Sequence 0 potion ingredient and noted that the Fate pathway's Sequence 1 Characteristic and Uniqueness already had owners.
  • Alice gave Amon her name, Alice Kingsley, and Amon abruptly changed his mind.
  • Amon grasped at the air and stole Alice's memories, leaving her body collapsed on the ground.

Ch. 127Klein, Let Me Give You a Gift

Alice found herself in Amon’s avatar after her consciousness separated from her body, then followed a faint connection back and awakened beside the now-empty avatar. She prayed to Klein and offered him Amon’s corpse as a gift, leaving Klein bewildered.

  • Alice realized she was in Amon’s avatar and wondered who she really was as she examined her original body and their faint connection.
  • Alice used her spirituality to touch a strand of Fate data connected to her, then lost consciousness.
  • Amon sensed that his avatar was alive but that their connection had vanished, and hesitated to send another avatar to investigate.
  • Alice woke on the floor beside Amon’s empty body and decided to leave the problem to Klein.
  • Klein answered Alice’s prayer and asked what gift she meant, while Alice realized she had chosen a poor place to pray.

Ch. 128Paper Crane

Alice explained that Amon's avatar had become a soulless shell after losing its connection to the main body, then discussed a Paper Crane connected to Will Auceptin with Klein. The chapter left Alice considering giving the Paper Crane to Amon and returning to the area where the ice cream stall had once stood.

  • Alice told Klein that Amon's avatar had lost its soul and connection to the main body, and claimed the empty body as hers.
  • Klein gave Alice a Paper Crane and explained that Doctor Aaron had received it from Will Auceptin after dreaming of Will being pursued by a Silver-White Great Serpent.
  • Alice concluded that Will Auceptin had gone to be reborn in a uterus and warned Klein that the Paper Crane could let Will find or watch him.
  • Alice suggested she might give the Paper Crane to Amon the next time they met, prompting Klein to suspect Amon enjoyed playing with her.
  • The next day, Alice visited the former ice cream stall's location, found it gone, and joined the customers at similar stalls.

Ch. 129Miss Fate's Monocle

At the Tarot Club, Alice revealed that she had taken a monocle from an Amon avatar and planned to send a gift to the Angel of Time. She also told Derrick to stop searching for Charlie King and offered a dangerous Fortune Accessory for sale to settle a 200-pound debt.

  • Alice greeted the Tarot Club wearing a monocle, then said she had peeled it off an Amon avatar's corpse.
  • Alger exchanged three pages of Roselle's Diary for a private explanation of the card beside Mr. Fool.
  • Alice said Amon's avatar had stolen something it should not have and asked Derrick to hold a bestowal-requesting ritual near the City of Silver.
  • Alice told Derrick that he no longer needed to search for Charlie King because Charlie was already dead.
  • Alice offered the Fortune Accessory for 200 pounds and explained that its luck-enhancing effect could eventually turn the owner's wealth, Beyonder Characteristic, or life into a price to pay.

Ch. 130A Suspected Old Acquaintance Arrives

During the Tarot Club meeting, Derrick recounted an unsettling encounter with a Rampager in the City of Silver, while Alice recalled a fragment of her past involving Will Auceptin and Ouroboros. The conversation left Alice closer to understanding her history but still missing key answers.

  • Alice asked Derrick what happened after he returned to the City of Silver, and he described the former captain appearing behind him and saying, “Hehe, I've been found∽”
  • Alger questioned how the City of Silver had kept the dangerous Rampager contained, and Alice said Amon was “Number One Below True Gods.”
  • When Alice tried to explain why Amon was called the Angel of Time, a memory surfaced of someone asking her to help him escape Ouroboros, who had set his sights on him.
  • Alice inferred that the speaker might have been Will Auceptin and that they had known each other, but she told Alger to wait for an answer about Amon.
  • Fors asked how Derrick had survived, and Alger deduced that the City of Silver’s leaders had allowed people to approach the Rampager to observe him; Derrick confirmed that the Chief had arrived and used a Mystical Item to deal with him.

Ch. 131How to Escape Amon

At the Tarot Club, Derrick explained that an Amon avatar had appeared in his room and lost control after Mr. Fool summoned him to a gathering. Alice warned the members about Amon and suggested a dangerous way to fight Him before Derrick recounted what happened after his Chief rescued him.

  • Derrick told the Tarot Club that an Amon avatar had appeared in his room with its head split open and mouths covering the cracks in its body.
  • Derrick said the Chief had concluded Amon reacted to Mr. Fool pulling him into the gathering, rather than to his Sun pathway.
  • Alice showed the members Amon's appearance and advised them to draw His interest if He had no reason to kill them, or kill themselves if He did.
  • Alice suggested Alger might invoke Lord of Storms's True Name to bring down lightning on himself and Amon, shocking the Tarot Club members.
  • Klein asked whether a gentler God's True Name could be used, and Alice apologized after nearly implying that Mr. Fool's name might turn someone into an idiot.
  • Derrick said his Chief had explained that the attacker was only an Amon avatar, told him why he had arranged for Derrick to live next door, and sent him home after checking him.

Ch. 132Occasionally Reliable Miss Fate

Derrick recounted how Mr. Fool helped purify Amon’s avatar, prompting the Tarot Club to worry that Derrick’s Chief had noticed his unusual behavior. The gathering ended with Mr. Fool identifying the dead worm Derrick had coughed up as a ritual ingredient.

  • Alice questioned Derrick about being sent home alone after his frightening encounter, and Alger steered him back to recounting what happened.
  • Derrick said he had prayed to Mr. Fool, leading Alice to warn that his Chief might have been monitoring him; Alger said the Chief would likely suspect Amon’s influence but not the Tarot Club.
  • Alice revealed that Amon had possessed her too, startling the others when she appeared to adjust her Monocle like Amon.
  • Derrick explained that Mr. Fool had taught him a ritual and sent an Angel to purify Amon’s avatar, surprising Alice and the other members.
  • Derrick manifested a translucent worm with twelve rings; Alger identified it as the likely vessel Amon used to create avatars and said it was also called the Worm of Time.
  • Mr. Fool said the dead worm was the main ingredient for certain rituals.

Ch. 133Immersive Acting

At the Tarot Club, Derrick reported that the returning Exploration Team had changed, and Alger advised him on how to expose the members’ abnormalities using an item tainted by the True Creator. Audrey then described the Hero Bandit Black Emperor’s raid on Capim, while Mr. Fool revealed that his Blessed had acquired two Extraordinary characteristics and wanted to sell them.

  • Derrick told the Tarot Club that members of Elder Lovia’s Exploration Team had returned from the Fallen Creator’s temple with altered personalities, and Alger warned they might be contaminated or converted.
  • Alger advised Derrick to alert the Council of Six and proposed using an item containing the True Creator’s Mental Pollution to reveal the team’s abnormalities.
  • The World offered to lend Derrick the item in exchange for materials and a method related to removing Mental Pollution, and Alger explained how to use it.
  • Audrey recounted how the Hero Bandit Black Emperor killed Capim, rescued the imprisoned young girls, and took valuables from his safe.
  • Mr. Fool said his Blessed had obtained Sheriff and Interrogator Residual Traits and wanted to sell them.

Ch. 134A Gift for the Angel of Time

At the Tarot Club, Audrey explained Extraordinary Residual Traits, and Klein taught the members about dates. Afterward, Alice prepared a teasing gift for Amon, which Klein received and read above the Gray Fog, leaving him worried about what Amon might do.

  • Fors asked what an Extraordinary's Residual Trait was, and Alice offered to pay for an answer with two chapters of Spirit World Observations.
  • Audrey explained that Beyonder traits were conserved within similar Pathways and could be used as Potion ingredients, except for dangerous traits left by Rampagers.
  • Klein taught the Tarot Club members the section about dates while Alger considered trying to make Alice happy to learn more from her.
  • Alice prepared a Message in a Bottle for Amon using the empty bottle that had held the Provoker Potion, and planned to send the avatar along with it.
  • Klein received Alice's gift above the Gray Fog, read her teasing letter, and wondered whether Amon would like it or might try to kill her.

Ch. 135All Amon's Fault

Alice answered Bernadette’s questions about Amon, resumed her paper-message exchange with Evelyn, and reflected on the identity she chose as Alice Kingsley. Later, she read Miss Magician’s Spirit World Observations and learned about the living, seven-colored lights in the Spirit World.

  • Alice found Bernadette’s letters asking whether Hero Bandit “Black Emperor” was one of her people and warning that a dangerous presence had been near her, then sent a cryptic reply that mentioned the King of Angel.
  • Alice summoned Bernadette’s messenger, felt the room turn cold as the envelope vanished, and decided not to attempt summoning her own messenger despite her curiosity.
  • Alice resumed her hand-drawn QQ exchange with Evelyn and reflected that she cherished being Alice Kingsley, even as she recognized her own capacity to enjoy cruelty.
  • Alice scolded her Fortune Accessory and ordered it not to cause trouble before she sold it.
  • Alice read Miss Magician’s Spirit World Observations and learned that the Spirit World’s seven colored rays were living beings.

Ch. 136Doomsday Prophecy

Alice read about Yellow Light Venitan’s prophecy of an apocalypse within two hundred years and wondered whether the Spirit World knew about the lost history before the First Epoch. Derrick stayed cautious under surveillance, while Amon noticed someone wearing his monocle and later Alice considered changing her Fortune Accessory to earrings.

  • Alice learned from the Abraham Family traveler’s notebook that Venitan predicted a world-ending apocalypse within two hundred years, and she realized it was less than fifty years away.
  • Derrick avoided holding a ritual, followed the Hanged Man’s advice, and encountered Elder Lovia while descending a staircase.
  • Amon noticed that someone familiar had put on his monocle, gave up interfering, and played a card against another Amon.
  • Alice slept in, read the newspaper over breakfast, and considered whether she could drink her potion once she had the ingredients.
  • Alice straightened her Fortune Accessory in the mirror, then remarked that earrings suited her better.

Ch. 137Corpse

Alice reflected on her careless treatment of the poor after speaking with a coachman, then followed Klein’s message to Green Cemetery. There, her dream divination revealed a severely decomposed child’s corpse buried beneath a birch tree, and she retched upon waking.

  • Alice prayed at St. Samuel Church and wondered whether anyone would recognize Amon’s monocle.
  • Alice asked a coachman what he would do if his carriage ran out of control, then realized how little she understood about the hardships of the poor.
  • Alice recalled how she had dragged an ice cream vendor and a coachman into her conflict with Will Auceptin.
  • Klein sent Alice the message “West Borough, Green Cemetery,” and she went to investigate the birch forest.
  • Alice followed the directions of fallen branches and used Dream Divination beneath a birch tree.
  • Alice saw a severely decomposed child’s corpse buried in the soil and began retching when she awoke.

Ch. 138From Nighthawk to Nighthawk Informant

Alice, Klein, and Doctor Aaron uncovered Will Auceptin’s buried corpse, and Aaron explained how his dream had led them to it. After the police questioned them, a Nighthawk asked Alice, who followed the Fate pathway, to help them.

  • Alice told Klein and Doctor Aaron that Will Auceptin’s corpse lay beneath the tree and sent Aaron to fetch shovels.
  • Klein and a Gravedigger dug up the corpse, and the Gravedigger fled while Aaron was horrified to see Will Auceptin.
  • Klein, Aaron, and Alice prayed to the Evernight Goddess before the police questioned them.
  • Klein described himself as a private detective, while Aaron recounted his dream and Alice said she had received a revelation from Fate.
  • A blue-eyed Nighthawk questioned Alice and invited her to help, and she fell into deep thought.

Ch. 139Child

Alice deflected the blue-eyed man's questions about her identity and the Devil Dog, then warned Doctor Aaron that his unborn child would bring catastrophe. Worried, Aaron hired Klein to investigate Alice and returned home to question his wife about her ice cream craving.

  • The blue-eyed man offered Alice cooperation and informant fees, but she refused to explain how she had stayed awake in the Dream or why the Devil Dog fled.
  • Alice hinted at her knowledge of the Nighthawks and warned the blue-eyed man that she could kill him, then left the interrogation room without answering his questions.
  • Alice told Doctor Aaron that his unborn child would bring catastrophe, and Aaron asked Klein to investigate her for fifty pounds.
  • Aaron returned home and questioned his wife about her half-eaten ice cream after she said the child had suddenly wanted some.

Ch. 141Mr. A's Task

At Mr. A’s gathering, Fors learned that the Aurora Order was searching for believers in the Fool and realized the Honorific Name might have come from Viscount Glaint’s home. Klein heard Fors’s prayer and discussed the threat with Alice, who suggested the True Creator’s interest was hardly surprising.

  • Mr. A asked the gathering to find people who believed in the Fool and warned members not to recite or write the Fool’s Honorific Name in certain languages.
  • Fors recognized the Honorific Name and suspected that Viscount Glaint’s book had exposed it, while Glaint remained unaware of their concern.
  • Klein heard Fors’s prayer, worried that the Aurora Order had discovered him, and told her not to worry.
  • Klein relayed the news to Alice, who joked about the True Creator sending a Saint to kill him and said the True Creator’s search made sense after the divine child and Lanevus.

Ch. 142A £50 Friendship

Klein and Alice discussed Mr. A’s search for Fool believers, Aaron’s commission to investigate Alice, and her complicated relationship with Will Auceptin. The next morning, Alice noticed Bernadette’s letter but set it aside, leaving its contents unread.

  • Klein realized the True Creator had likely learned of the Fool through Little Sun’s recent ritual and discussed why Mr. A was seeking Fool believers with Alice.
  • Alice wondered whether someone had previously searched for Fool believers at the gathering and Klein reminded her to warn Bernadette.
  • Klein told Alice that Doctor Aaron had hired him for fifty pounds to investigate her, and Alice questioned what their friendship was worth.
  • Alice considered giving Will Auceptin’s monocle to Aaron but abandoned the idea after Klein objected.
  • Alice returned home, forgot about Bernadette’s situation, and set her letter aside while reading the newspaper at breakfast.

Ch. 143Protagonist of the Era Leonard!

Alice visited St. Samuel Church and saw Leonard, while an unseen gaze watched her; later, she discovered Amon’s Provoker Potion might become an unusable Extraordinary Item and answered Bernadette’s question about the Fool and the True Creator. The chapter ended with Alice sending her reply by Bernadette’s unusual messenger, while Pallez reacted to Amon’s presence at the church.

  • Alice saw Leonard enter St. Samuel Church and worried that their meeting might expose her or entangle him in her dangerous Fate.
  • Alice noticed an unknown gaze watching her in the church, but it vanished along with Leonard before she could identify it.
  • Alice realized Amon’s Provoker Potion could be absorbed by its bottle and become an unusable Extraordinary Item, then drew a chibi portrait of Amon on the bottle.
  • Alice read Bernadette’s question about the Fool’s relationship with the True Creator and replied that the True Creator placed great importance on Mr. Fool.
  • Alice summoned Bernadette’s messenger, watched the letter disappear without seeing the messenger, and wished she had one like it.
  • Pallez wondered how Amon dared to come to a church to pray.
