Demonic Sect, First Saint Sect.
Layer upon layer of Cloud Sea churned like furious waves. Peaks of a thousand sights rose like islands amid the sea of clouds, scattered like stars, like pieces upon a chessboard.
At the very edge of this chessboard stood a mountain noticeably shorter than the others, as though someone had sliced off its summit out of thin air, leaving only a flat expanse. Flying boats rose and fell upon the mountaintop, where newly inducted nominal disciples stood in a line.
Lu Yang was one of them.
He had only just transmigrated here. The moment he opened his eyes, he found himself in this place, while the lingering memories within his body told him that his current situation seemed far from good.
According to the original owner's memories, there was a kingdom under the rule of the First Saint Sect, named Chen.
Every three years, the Chen Kingdom sent a batch of nominal disciples to the First Saint Sect, and in return, the First Saint Sect guaranteed favorable winds and rains for the Chen Kingdom and an imperial family as steady as Mount Tai.
At first hearing, this sounded like a heaven-sent opportunity to enter an Immortal Gate and live forever.
Yet in truth, not a single noble or dignitary of the Chen Kingdom was willing to come. The only ones sent here as "blood offerings" were commoners like Lu Yang.
After all, although tens of thousands of nominal disciples were sent into the First Saint Sect every three years, the number of official disciples had never noticeably increased. Only the nominal disciples vanished one after another without a trace, as though they were not heading to a sacred land of cultivation, but into a bottomless abyss.
Just thinking about it was enough to make one shudder.
"No wonder I'm so weak. It feels like my body's been hollowed out."
Lu Yang pinched his arm. It was all soft flesh, without a single hard bit to it. Feeling even worse, he had just tried to stand when pain shot through his chest.
"The original owner seemed to have some illness too. This illness is... fuck!"
Lu Yang cursed a few more times. This was no longer merely weakness; he was utterly riddled with disease, with only a few days of life left at most.
Just as Lu Yang was drowning in despair, feeling that he would speedrun death right after transmigrating—
A tiny point of light suddenly appeared before his eyes, then swelled against the wind, transforming into a screen at a speed visible to the naked eye!
Name: Lu Yang Lifespan: 18 Cultivation: None Talent: None Cultivation Method: None Divine Ability: None Treasure: None
At that moment, Lu Yang looked at the system interface before him and suddenly felt like crying. Had he not heard that Heaven never sealed off every road? So long as he wished to walk, the road would lie beneath his feet!
System, add some points for me!
Then Lu Yang froze.
Because he searched left and right, looked up and down, yet failed to find the plus sign he had been yearning for in the skills section. There was not even a minus sign.
"No, System, where are my points to add?"
After searching for a long time, Lu Yang had no choice but to despairingly admit a fact: the personal panel before him seemed to have no point-adding function.
In other words, if he wanted to improve, he had to rely on his own efforts.
Lu Yang: "..."
Fuck your mother. Before I awakened the system, you wanted me to work hard. Now that I've awakened the system, you still want me to work hard. Then didn't I awaken this system for nothing?
System, your mother is dea—
Remaining pages of the Hundred Lives Book: 100 Hundred Lives Book: After death, you can return to the initial point in time and restart a life. After restarting, you may choose one of your previous life's treasures, cultivation, or lifespan, or abandon all gains from your previous life and awaken a talent.
Dad, it was fine now.
Lu Yang suddenly grew excited. A hundred lifetimes of reincarnation—what an immense fortune was that? So long as he used it well, it could completely send him soaring into the heavens!
"Those whose names are called, step before me."
At that moment, a black-robed Daoist appeared before the crowd. He held a register in his hands, while a candlestick floated beside him. His expression was gloomy and sinister.
"Drip your blood into the Life Lamp beside me and ignite your Life Fire. From this day onward, you will be nominal disciples of my First Saint Sect."
Yet upon hearing this, no one present showed any joy.
That was because most of those sent here had heard of the First Saint Sect's notorious reputation and knew that this so-called nominal disciple status was a disaster rather than a blessing.
However, the black-robed Daoist paid no heed to their thoughts and merely called out names one by one.
"Chen Liang."
"Here!"
When the black-robed Daoist called a name, a young Dao Attendant with red lips and white teeth beside Lu Yang stood up and skipped toward the Daoist.
This young Dao Attendant was exceedingly handsome. His bright, lively eyes seemed able to speak, and most importantly, there was a spiritual air between his brows that even mortals could recognize. Judging by his expression and bearing, he was clever and precocious; in the mortal world, he would surely have been the kind of Reading prodigy fought over by every great academy.
Sure enough, the black-robed Daoist revealed a look of amazement.
"What a naturally gifted spirit child!"
"You flatter me, Daoist brother." The young Dao Attendant respectfully bowed. Combined with his tender child's voice, it made people unable to help but feel favorably toward him.
The black-robed Daoist immediately smiled even more broadly.
"Excellent, excellent! My First Saint Sect needs talents like you!"
As soon as he finished speaking, the black-robed Daoist lightly drew his brush across the register, crossing out Chen Liang's name.
Thud!
The next second, without any warning, the young Dao Attendant who had been brimming with spiritual vitality rolled his eyes upward and collapsed to the ground, utterly silent.
Only after doing all this did the black-robed Daoist casually instruct,
"Send his blood, flesh, and skin to the Alchemy Hall. Send his bones and soul to the Treasure Refining Hall. Send his five viscera and six bowels to the Beast Taming Hall. Do not waste such an outstanding talent."
A few simple sentences left the nominal disciples staring in stunned disbelief.
Seeing this, the black-robed Daoist gave a sinister cackle. "Junior brothers, do not misunderstand."
"The Sacred Sect has always valued 'worth.' Thus, whether a disciple is outstanding depends solely on whether he can create sufficient value for the Sacred Sect."
"That junior brother just now was a naturally gifted spirit child, with strong sinews and bones. Only after death could he create the greatest value for the Sacred Sect, which was why he died."
"As for you junior brothers, your aptitudes are mediocre. Only by living can you create value for the Sacred Sect, so naturally, you need not worry about such things."
"Next."
The black-robed Daoist continued calling names. The people below were pale with terror, yet had no choice but to obey, fearing they would follow in the young Dao Attendant's footsteps and have their lives crossed out as well.
"Lu Yang."
"Here."
Lu Yang stepped forward at the call, his expression respectful.
The black-robed Daoist's gaze first fell upon Lu Yang's refined and handsome face. Joy appeared on his face at first, but he then examined Lu Yang's sinews and bones.
However, he soon shook his head in disappointment.
Clearly, in his eyes, Lu Yang was good for nothing but being handsome.
"Go to the Joyous Union Hall."
Lu Yang did not dare ask further and quickly said, "Yes."
After the assignments were finished, Lu Yang received a Jade Plaque. It was nearly transparent, with his name carved upon it, and it seemed as though a ball of flame had been sealed inside.
Aside from that, he also received a Cultivation Method.
The Cultivation Method was called the Yin-Yang Great Joy Ode. It was the cultivation method of the Joyous Union Hall, to which Lu Yang had been assigned. It was said to allow one to cultivate true qi and step into the Qi Refining realm.
As he led the way, the old menial servant casually said, "The Life Fire inside the Life Token is yours. Remember to carry it with you. The Sacred Sect's formations, Spiritual Plants, and Spiritual Beasts recognize tokens, not people. If you ever forget to bring it when you go out and die in the Sacred Sect, don't blame me for not warning you."
Before long, the group was led before a grand hall.
Before the hall stood a voluptuous beautiful woman in a long dress, its slit running all the way up to the root of her thigh. Every glance and gesture of hers overflowed with sensual charm, bewitching and ravishing.
"Gulp."
Lu Yang clearly heard someone beside him swallow.
Seeing everyone looking at her, the beautiful woman was not the least bit shy. Instead, she covered her mouth and chuckled, then lifted one side of her skirt at the waist with a graceful hand.
Beneath the skirt hung a Jade Plaque, swaying before a patch of snowy-white softness.
The name on the plaque was: Yu Suzhen.
"This is the Joyous Union Hall. I am Yu Suzhen, and I suppose that makes me your senior sister."
The next second, Lu Yang noticed that Yu Suzhen's eyes lit up slightly as her gaze fell directly upon him, utterly undisguised.
"This junior brother is so handsome. He must be a disciple of my Joyous Union Hall."
Yu Suzhen gave a soft laugh, then swayed her water-snake waist. Her skirts intertwined as she walked step by step toward Lu Yang, all that snowy-white flesh making his head spin.
"I think you look quite good. Come with me. I'll introduce you to the situation in the Joyous Union Hall."
Lu Yang quickly cupped his hands. "Thank you, Senior Sister Yu."
"Why be so formal?"
Yu Suzhen shot Lu Yang a charming glance, then turned around. Her snake waist twisted as her plump hips swayed from side to side, setting the hearts of those around them ablaze.
Yet Lu Yang did not dare look too much and silently followed her.
"Our Sacred Sect disciples are divided into inner and outer disciples. The four outer halls—the Treasure Refining Hall, Alchemy Hall, Beast Taming Hall, and Joyous Union Hall—are where nominal disciples such as yourselves go."
"Only after passing the trials of the four outer halls can you enter the inner sect, receive the true teachings, and become official disciples."
"You are quite lucky to have entered my Joyous Union Hall. You will not have to suffer like those in the other three halls. After all, the trial of my Joyous Union Hall is much easier."
At this point, Yu Suzhen suddenly leaned close to Lu Yang.
"Do you want to know what it is?"
The next second, Lu Yang felt a puff of hot breath against the root of his ear, while a sweet fragrance curled around the tip of his nose. When he turned his head, an exquisite pretty face was right before his eyes.
"Please enlighten me, Senior Sister." Lu Yang looked up.
"That would be dual cultivation."
That sweet, delicate voice whispered beside his ear like the murmurs of a lover. Before her words had faded, a slender jade hand was already resting atop Lu Yang's head.
A perfect handful~
Lu Yang immediately sucked in a sharp breath.
