History

Meng Yiran is the granddaughter of Dragon Duke Meng Shu and Snake Granny Chao Tianxiang of the Peerless Dragon Snake Family. She first encountered Ye Buqun in the Star Dou Great Forest while competing with him and Doudou for the Ice Dual-Winged Serpent's Soul Ring. Confident that he was underestimating her, she accepted his proposal for a duel despite his promise not to use his Martial Soul or Soul Rings. Ye Buqun defeated her by disarming her and forcing her to dismiss the Serpent Cane. 31 32

After Ye Buqun secured a better target for her, Meng Yiran absorbed a Man Faced Demon Spider Soul Ring and unexpectedly gained the Eight Spider Lances External Soul Bone. Her grandparents subsequently pledged the Peerless Dragon Snake Family to Ye Buqun and requested that he accept her as a disciple. Although family seniority initially required her to call him “Great Grand-Master,” Ye Buqun instructed her to address him as Teacher. 35 36 38

Following her graduation from an intermediate Soul Master Academy, Meng Yiran sought out Ye Buqun on her own initiative. She accompanied him, Doudou, and Zhu Zhuqing to Heaven Dou Royal Academy, where she demonstrated level 46 Soul Power and became involved in the conflict with Dugu Yan and the Imperial Fighting Team. 77 78 80 81

Meng Yiran later entered the City of Slaughter alongside Ye Buqun. She survived the Slaughter Hell Arena, completed one hundred victories with his concealed assistance and support against the arena's killing intent, then crossed the Road to Hell. At her first documented appearance, Meng Yiran was fourteen or fifteen years old, with a slender but well-developed build, light-brown eyes, and long eyelashes. Her appearance became more mature after absorbing soul rings, particularly after the Man Faced Demon Spider and Ten Headed Fierce Yang Serpent rings. 31 36 126

Personality

Meng Yiran is proud, competitive, and quick-tempered. She reacted angrily to Ye Buqun's initial refusal to yield the Soul Ring and took his martial-soul-less duel proposal as an insult to her strength. During that duel, however, she warned him before launching her poisonous Snake Blade, showing that her aggression did not entirely override restraint. 31 32

She is unusually attracted to danger, darkness, and combat. The oppressive atmosphere around the City of Slaughter excited her rather than frightening her, and she willingly fought and killed those who threatened her. This disposition also put her at risk: prolonged Slaughter Hell Arena victories intensified her urge to kill until Ye Buqun used his Soul Power and Bloody Mary to prevent a killing-intent backlash. 111 112 120

Meng Yiran is deeply attached to Ye Buqun as both teacher and master. She repeatedly sought to remain near him, became jealous when he praised Liu Erlong, and confessed that she did not want to be left behind among his other disciples. Despite this possessiveness, she is capable of selflessness, initially offering the Evil Orca King's 100,000-Year Soul Bone to her teammates because she already possessed an evolvable External Soul Bone. 39 95 241
