There was nothing more to say after that. Once she had dealt with the giant snake and Voldemort's Horcrux, Airi left the Chamber of Secrets and reported the matter to Professor McGonagall, who was temporarily acting as headmistress. Professor McGonagall was naturally both shocked and delighted. After inspecting the Chamber and confirming the giant snake's corpse, she immediately wrote to Dumbledore.
Before long, Dumbledore and Hagrid returned to the school, and Hogwarts finally relaxed again as the matter came to a close. Everyone's tightly wound nerves began to ease, the teachers were no longer so tense, and those who had been Petrified were cured. All in all, it was a happy ending for everyone.
Although Dumbledore lavishly praised Airi's performance, she could still sense a hint of awkwardness in his words. That was only natural. Strictly speaking, these were all "trials" prepared for Harry, the savior, yet Airi had resolved them instead, leaving Dumbledore quite frustrated. Still, he could not exactly say anything to her. After all, she was the Defense Against the Dark Arts professor, and eliminating dangerous creatures was part of her duty. On top of that, given Airi's other sensitive identity, Dumbledore did not dare bring her into the Order of the Phoenix. Aside from swallowing his bitterness in silence, all he could do was grit his teeth and accept it.
Hagrid, however, had no favorable impression of Airi. Especially after she made a special trip to the Forbidden Forest and went on a slaughtering spree, killing nearly every dangerous creature in it. When Hagrid returned, he was so furious he nearly went mad, charging into Airi's office like an enraged hibernating bear that had been rudely awakened.
"How could you? How could you kill my lovely children?!"
Hagrid's spittle-flying roar nearly echoed through all of Hogwarts.
