The torrential rain poured down.
In the dim room, a solemn man with graying temples stared silently at the map before him.
He was Ciri's biological father, and the emperor of Nilfgaard—the great empire soon to unite the entire continent—Emhyr var Emreis.
To Emhyr, the current situation was exceedingly delicate. With Redania's royal capital destroyed, the Northern Lands' allied resistance should, by all rights, have collapsed as well. All Nilfgaard needed to do was march north, and the entire continent would be united.
But things were far from that simple.
First, Redania's army had not become a scattered mob after losing its King. On the contrary, they had knelt beneath the banner of the Church of the Eternal Fire, proclaiming that they would fight for the great god of fire forever. The ignorance and superstition of those Barbarians gave Emhyr quite a headache. Still, that was nothing much. Redania's army was weak after all; wiping them out was only a matter of time.
But two other issues demanded Emhyr's attention.
The first was the King of Fire calling himself Ragnaros, who had appeared within the Church of the Eternal Fire. At first, Emhyr had assumed it was merely some rumor from the streets, but his spies soon reported the same information through different channels. In other words, a terrifying hundred-meter-tall being formed entirely of flame had indeed descended upon Novigrad. As for what it truly was... no one could say.
Considering that it had destroyed Redania's royal capital with a single meteor, Emhyr had no choice but to halt his advance. If he provoked it and a fiery meteor crashed into Nilfgaard's royal capital one day, he would be equally helpless.
The second matter was even more frustrating. According to his spies, his biological daughter, Ciri, had actually become the
