The town could no longer be defended.

Gripping the longbow in his hand, Clark looked out at the mass of wolves shrouding the ground beyond. He clenched his teeth, grief written across his face. Those damned Demon Beasts were about to storm the walls, yet he had no way to deal with those monsters. Turning to look beside him, he saw that the militia under his command were already in miserable shape. Though the walls offered them some protection, the flames spewed by the black wolves had still burned many of them. And for ordinary people, those magic-infused flames were practically fatal!

"It's over here."

Clark let out a long sigh, then turned to look at the girl standing not far away. She had curly blond hair, and the pure white priestly robes she wore were already stained with dark red blood and dust. Even so, she was still doing her best to treat the wounded around her. She stretched out her hand, and a faint white radiance quickly emerged, enveloping the injured and driving away the black mist clinging to their bodies. Under the illumination of the Holy Light, the pained expressions of the wounded gradually calmed. But Clark knew it was only a drop in the ocean.

"Girl, leave this place!"

Clark sighed and spoke to the girl beside him.

"There's still time. You don't need to die here with us! This is our homeland, but you're only a traveler!"

"But I'm a priestess—a priestess of the Order Holy Temple!"

Hearing Clark's words, the blond girl wiped away the tears at the corner of her eyes and shook her head. Her voice was hoarse and even trembled slightly, but despite that, she stubbornly refused to leave.

"Protecting order and fighting Chaos is my duty! I will never flee
