Background

Yu Xiaogang was born to Yu Yuanzhen, patriarch of the Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon Clan, but failed to awaken the clan's Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon Martial Soul. Despite his direct-line birth and abundant resources, he awakened Luo Sanpao and possessed only half a rank of Innate Soul Power. 96

Unable to follow a conventional combat path, he entered Spirit Hall to study its extensive Martial Soul archives and research. His father used the authority attached to an Honorary Elder token to secure his access. During this period, Yu Xiaogang became involved with Bibi Dong. 202

After leaving Spirit Hall, he traveled with Flender and Liu Erlong as the Golden Iron Triangle. Yu Xiaogang is deeply concerned with reputation and recognition. He presents himself as a righteous theorist, but his own thoughts reveal that he wanted fame through theoretical achievement after his lack of strength prevented him from becoming a combat Soul Master. 48 232

He is also ambitious through his disciples. Upon learning of Dai Yichen's rapid growth, he restructured Tang San's schedule around cultivation and imagined Tang San surpassing Bibi Dong after obtaining the secret of Twin Martial Soul cultivation. 201

While taking Tang San into the Soul Hunting Forest for his first Soul Ring, Yu Xiaogang is caught in a punishment connected to Bibi Dong and Liu Erlong's failed Destiny Coin test; both master and disciple are found unconscious and seriously injured. 59 61 64

Dream Interrogation

Bibi Dong uses a Dream Entry Card to enter Yu Xiaogang's dream. Unable to lie, Yu Xiaogang reveals that he approached Spirit Hall for knowledge, seeks Bibi Dong's Twin Martial Soul method for Tang San, and maintains conflicting claims of love toward Bibi Dong and Liu Erlong. Yu Xiaogang accompanies the Heaven Dou team during its friendly match with Star Luo.
