Shrek's decision to forfeit the final match directly did not lower the audience's opinion of them in any way.

After watching so many days of matches, everyone had already figured out that Shrek was simply training its troops and flexing its muscles.

They fielded whoever suited the opponent. The Reserve Team got to fight, and the main team got to fight too. If they ran into enemies with old grudges like this today, they settled those scores along the way.

Most of the spectators understood perfectly well that the Tang Sect Team was not all that different from Shrek Second Team.

After all, three of their main members had been Shrek competitors five years ago!

They had all been classmates before, so they must have fought each other plenty within the academy. It was perfectly normal for Shrek not to bother wasting the effort on it again.
