When Rota arrived, the envoy of the City of Slaughter bowed slightly and paid him her respects.

The Slaughter Envoy spoke calmly. "Hello, newly arrived trial-taker. I am the envoy responsible for guiding you. Once you enter the city, you will receive three days of novice protection. I will be responsible for your safety during those three days. Now, allow me to introduce you to the City of Slaughter."

"Novice protection? Is that some kind of benefit for newcomers? It seems the City of Slaughter isn't as cold-hearted as the rumors say!" Rota smiled. This novice protection period was rather interesting.

The Slaughter Envoy gave a wicked smile as well and explained, "To outsiders, the City of Slaughter is indeed a cold-blooded and cruel place. But all of it is for the sake of gaining strength. On the path to power, a little cruelty is only natural."

"Of course, there is another reason. The City of Slaughter exists to select those suited to become candidates for the Asura God. Naturally, newly arrived trial-takers must receive some preferential treatment."
