"Damn it!" Shiyu felt death closing in. Acting purely on instinct, he wielded his power in resistance, wanting to stay alive.
He did not know what power he had used, but the Great Strength Vajra Palm's descent slowed.
He used Space Movement again and left his original position. The instant he vanished, the Great Strength Vajra Palm struck, leaving a distinct palm print on the ground in that area.
"Phew..." Shiyu gasped heavily, his heart still pounding with fear. He had almost died.
"Was that Time Power just now?" Shiyu was shaken as he recalled the Time Power he had sensed after absorbing the Soul Ring.
"What kind of power was that?" Zhao Wujin frowned. His attack had slowed just now. It was not because he had held back, but because he had been affected by the other party's power.
He found this brat increasingly strange, and his killing intent intensified. He had become determined to see this through with Shiyu. Could a Spirit Saint like him really fail to kill such a brat?
Zhao Wujin continued his pursuit. Every time, he came within a hair's breadth of killing Shiyu, yet Shiyu always managed to evade him.
Shiyu began consciously using Time Power, Space Movement, and Time Slowdown. The pressure eased slightly.
Yet it remained immense. Every escape was perilous; if he had been even half a beat slower, he would have been a corpse.
"Can't you just get the hell away from me?" Shiyu cursed, hoping Zhao Wujin would leave quickly.
A flash of inspiration struck him, and he suddenly realized something. He could teleport himself instantly—could he make Zhao Wujin undergo Space Movement too?
If he moved forward and Zhao Wujin moved backward, would that not instantly widen the distance between them?
The moment he thought of this, Shiyu immediately began trying it. He deliberately left behind a Space Tunnel where he departed, hoping Zhao Wujin would teleport like he did.
Several consecutive attempts ended in failure. It was not until the fifth attempt that he successfully moved Zhao Wujin more than twenty meters backward.
Zhao Wujin's expression turned grave. This person could actually force him into Space Movement as well.
After succeeding once, Shiyu began trying it frequently. He moved forward while making Zhao Wujin move backward, easing the pressure further.
The pursuit continued, and before they knew it, more than half an hour had passed.
Zhao Wujin still had not managed to kill Shiyu. He had not even truly landed an attack on him.
The other party's Spatial Power was simply too slippery, making him difficult to hit.
Shiyu had also gained some understanding of the powers he possessed. He became increasingly adept at using them and was no longer as bedraggled as he had been at first.
He tried using the First Soul Ring he had just obtained, only to discover that it did not exist.
The Shiyu who had come to Ten Thousand Years Ago did not have a Soul Ring, but he could use Spatial Power and Time Power normally.
Moreover, he felt much stronger than before. The version of himself who had absorbed the first Soul Ring should not have been able to use Spatial Power so freely. Something was wrong.
As for what exactly was wrong, he naturally had no mind to think about it now. He was still fleeing for his life.
Zhao Wujin's energy pressure had still inflicted considerable harm on him. He was exhausted now and felt as though he could no longer hold on.
But he had to grit his teeth and endure. Getting caught meant death. The instinct to survive drove him to keep fleeing, not daring to stop.
"Little bastard, let's see how you run now," Zhao Wujin suddenly said with satisfaction.
Shiyu was somewhat baffled and moved more than a hundred meters away again.
After landing, he ran forward out of inertia. When he clearly saw the scene ahead, he hurriedly stopped, his face filled with panic.
There was no road ahead. A massive fissure lay before him, and one more step would send him falling in.
"I can only gamble that it isn't two hundred meters wide." In that split second, Shiyu made his choice. Instead of slowing down, he accelerated forward.
Stopping meant certain death. If he kept running forward, he still had a chance of reaching the other side.
He used Space Movement again, appearing in midair close to the far side. His body took on a running posture as he desperately tried to move toward it.
But he was still more than ten meters away from the ground on the other side, unable to land safely.
"Ah!" Shiyu fell under the pull of gravity, desperately using the powers of space and time in an attempt to save himself.
The bottom of the fissure could not be seen at a glance. Who knew how deep it was? Falling down there would most likely mean death.
"Go die!" Zhao Wujin stopped on the other side instead of jumping after him. Without hesitation, he used the Great Strength Vajra Palm again, intending to knock Shiyu down.
Being suspended in midair made Shiyu extremely uncomfortable, causing him to react half a beat slower than usual. This time, the Great Strength Vajra Palm hit him.
"Zhao Wujin, I'll never let you go!" Shiyu shouted furiously. His enmity with Zhao Wujin had become one that would never end until one of them died.
The blow split his flesh and blood apart, nearly shattering his body.
This was an attack from a Spirit Saint. With Shiyu's current physique, it was impossible to endure. Once struck, it would be fatal.
Shiyu's consciousness blurred as his body fell downward. He still clutched the Man Faced Demon Spider's External Soul Bone tightly in his hand.
Zhao Wujin stood at the edge of the fissure and watched Shiyu fall, frowning slightly. What a pity about that Soul Bone.
"Consider yourself unlucky. A massive fissure like this had to suddenly appear," Zhao Wujin said as he looked around.
This was a fissure over a thousand meters long, and its width exceeded two hundred meters in most places.
It should have been formed by Earth Activity. In the Star Dou Forest, whose area was larger than many kingdoms and duchies, there were quite a few such landforms.
"That brat should definitely be dead," Zhao Wujin muttered, though he still felt somewhat uneasy.
He wanted to go down and see the brat breathe his last with his own eyes, but the fissure's depth was rather discouraging. If he went down, he might not be able to come back up.
He could not fly, and without knowing whether he could jump back up, he was unwilling to take the risk.
"Why didn't I hear him hit the ground? Is the fissure simply too deep?" Zhao Wujin had expected to hear a loud thud.
But he heard nothing, which made him suspicious. He had no idea what was going on.
The worst possibility was naturally that the person had landed on something soft, which was why there had been no sound of impact against anything hard.
The better possibility was that the fissure was so deep that no sound had carried up, while the other person had died completely.
"There's no way he survived." Zhao Wujin did not let his imagination run wild. He left the area, needing to reunite with Tang San and Dai Mubai as soon as possible. Hopefully, they had not truly encountered danger.
At the bottom of the pitch-black fissure, whose depths could not be seen, Shiyu lay on his back on the ground, breathing rapidly. He had nearly died for real.
The fissure was extremely deep. Falling from above like that would have meant certain death.
Fortunately, he possessed the powers of space and time. Under the stimulation of his survival instinct, he had unleashed his potential. Despite his severe injuries, he used Spatial Energy to support himself and cushion the fall.
Time Power gave him more time to slow down. In the end, he landed at a relatively gentle speed and did not fall to his death down there.
"What terrible luck I have..." Shiyu felt as though he was about to die. His entire body ached, and if this continued, he might not live until tomorrow.
Still, he refused to accept his fate. Everyone feared death, and naturally, so did he.
As long as he could live, he had to fight to live, even if his situation was so dire that survival was nearly impossible.
He lay on the ground and used the corner of his eye to survey his surroundings, hoping to find something that could help him.
Very soon, his gaze was drawn to a faint glow. There seemed to be some sort of plant emitting light over there.
He struggled to adjust his body so he could see it clearly. Even the slightest movement brought piercing pain, as though his body was about to fall apart.
He still managed to adjust himself and take a closer look. The plant was a begonia flower with nine leaves.
He could judge so accurately because he saw nine different colors of light. Each leaf emitted one color, making nine colors in total and exactly nine leaves.
"What kind of Heavenly Materials and Earthly Treasures is this?" Shiyu did not understand, but he knew this begonia flower was extraordinary.
After all, how could an ordinary begonia flower possibly glow unless his eyes were playing tricks on him?
He stared at it several times, confirming that he was not seeing things. The begonia flower truly was glowing.
"I hope this thing can save me." Shiyu could not worry about anything else. He could only place his hopes on a miracle.
He had no other choice now. He could either wait here for death, or eat the begonia flower and gamble on a slim chance of survival.
Of course, it might also hasten his death, but any outcome was better than waiting helplessly.
Shiyu tried to move toward it, but the pain nearly made him faint.
"My brain can't even think straight anymore." Shiyu stopped moving and instead used his power over space to bring the begonia flower to himself.
The begonia flower was snapped off by his Spatial Power and slowly drifted toward him.
As it drew closer, Shiyu caught its fragrance and immediately felt his body grow more comfortable. Even the pain eased somewhat.
"This begonia flower might really be able to save my life." Hope ignited in Shiyu's eyes.
