It was fat and round, with a smooth surface, looking like an oversized bloated vat. Several large coils sat on top, similar to the coils on magnetic field detection instruments in laboratories. They were encased in specially made glass, like huge ears growing out of the seismograph.
Three mechanical arms were mounted on its body, making the seismograph look even more like a three-legged crab with huge ears. The Ant Army Company logo and name were clearly printed on its smooth surface.
They had been scientific researchers for so long that they had seen all kinds of strange-looking instruments. To them, this design actually seemed rather ordinary.
"Is this the Ant Army Company instrument?" One expert circled the device once. Other than the large coils, he found nothing unusual.
They had gone to such great lengths for these six instruments, yet none of them knew what they were for.
"What does it do?"
Everyone turned to look at Wu Zhen.
"An Ant Army Company seismograph," Wu Zhen said.
The moment he said that, an odd silence fell over the scene. Everyone looked at one another, unsure how to respond. They had all assumed it was an ordinary geological survey instrument, only to learn that it was a seismograph.
"Is it based on that paper Chen Mo from Ant Army Company published some time ago about Earthquake Early Warning?" a geological expert asked.
"That's right. This is the seismograph he made according to the principles in that paper," Wu Zhen said.
"I've read that paper. The idea is innovative, but it's far too fanciful. It's all theoretical and not very practical. The chances of failure are high," a geological expert said.
"Should they refuse to test it just because they know it might fail? Should they avoid experiments because they fear
