This book was written in fits and starts, perhaps because I placed too many constraints on myself.

There were two things I regretted most.

One was the transition from the Earth era to the interstellar era.

In my original plan, the Earth era would have gone through a large-scale war and reshuffling, with various regions forming power blocs. Then Earth would have formed a community with a shared destiny, using that as the starting point to enter the interstellar era.

At the time, I lost my footing and had no choice but to cut a large number of plotlines I had already planned out, desperately revising things. Without any plot to bridge the gap, I had to skip the Earth war era and rush into the interstellar era, which led to Chen Mo being captured...

The other was the virus crisis plotline.

To write those parts, I looked into events from 2002 to 2003 and carefully read a great deal of news and accounts. But then, last year... sigh...

When I wrote that crisis plotline, I had imagined many mindless developments in the Western world for the sake of satisfying moments. But I did not dare to go all out. I did not dare to depict their brainless strategies or write anything too specific, afraid of being criticized for making the plot stupid and forcing the characters to lose intelligence, so I held back.

But what happened last year—their response strategies, the scenes, and the data—told me that I had still been too conservative. All the satisfying moments I discarded became reality. Reality was even more mindless and idiotic than fiction.

Back to the point!

This book contained many of my own ideas about the technological world of the future.
