Tobeiru was an advanced race with remarkable achievements in both spatial technology and psionic technology. When we discovered that the orbital Teleportation Gates they used possessed performance nearly equal to the Empire's short- and medium-range teleportation systems—and were entirely powered by psionic energy—we became even more certain of that.
Although many people associated the Zerg with barbarism, ruthlessness, lack of restraint, extreme expansionism, and other such negative impressions, and many believed that Zerg were only good at developing biotechnology—such as their own biceps—and unsuited to studying advanced technology, such conclusions based on racial stereotypes were utterly unreasonable prejudices. Whether a race could develop a technological civilization had no decisive connection to its appearance; it depended on its historical progress and environmental circumstances. Tobeiru was a vivid example. They were a typical swarm race, with a centralized structure similar to an insect kingdom, and their bodies had undergone many forms of Super Evolution to adapt to their environment. Yet their greatest strength was still science and technology, and they were highly capable of living harmoniously with other races.
They were even the most technologically advanced members of the Exiles Fleet—and the only members who had preserved most of their original technologies. After the Exiles finally established a New Home in this universe, every race unanimously chose to continue using mature Tobeiru technology, which all races had adapted to, as the core technology of their worlds. The space dock we had passed through upon arriving, as well as the buildings on the Colonial Star below, had all been built with Tobeiru technology. Well, at least eighty percent of them had.
A civilization with such unique gifts, and with a social structure better suited to confronting the brutal cosmic environment and all kinds of evolutionary challenges, would certainly have achieved immeasurable accomplishments if
