Harlan's legion had fully recovered from the Empire Army's fierce assault. They were gradually regaining their footing and launching an effective counterattack. Two factors had caused our advantage to rapidly disappear: first, Harlan's forces had recovered their normal combat effectiveness, seemingly emerging from their earlier sleepwalking state; second, those Sovereign formations that were enough to make anyone's head ache. During the Gospel System's effective period, the Sovereigns were nearly indestructible. Judging from the situation, these dozen or so super battleships had plenty of energy left and could likely withstand the Empire Army's firepower for quite some time. These thick-skinned bastards absorbed nearly half the frontal damage for the other Abyss battleships.
Their weapons were also a tremendous threat. Genesis was one of the few attack forms capable of dealing full damage to Psionic Shields. Because of their special position on the Void Stairway, Psionic Shields generally possessed excellent percentage resistance against all attacks, but they could not resist dismantling effects. Under Genesis's continuous bombardment, the Empire Army, which held an absolute numerical advantage, had actually been forced onto the defensive. Harlan had proven through his actions that even an old dog still had a few teeth—stray dog or not.
So we had to find a way to eliminate these super battleships first. I was worried about how long Siweisi's conventional tactics would take to drain their energy, but my Void power seemed capable of damaging the Gospel System. One of Ockham's Sovereigns had once had its shield shattered by Void power before its core overloaded and collapsed. I figured I could give it a try.
But the situation was a little different from back then. At that time, the Empire Army and Ockham's Sovereign were practically nose to nose—close enough that you could smack the other side in the face
