Records showed that this world had no dark matter whatsoever, and there were scarcely any large galactic clusters in space. Though it was still young, stellar formation across the universe had nearly ground to a halt. Space appeared especially dim, cold, empty, and lifeless—this was not a place suited to the emergence of advanced civilizations or colonization. It was barren to the point of cruelty, yet it was an excellent location for Deep Diving experiments. The low matter density and sparse number of celestial bodies could prevent Abyss contamination from spreading rapidly, while the environment's unsuitability for life had allowed the Engineering Team to complete evacuation with little effort while building the test port. Apparently, only two Star Systems in this universe had developed life.

This was naturally not the universe where Deep Diving experiments had first been conducted, because Abyss Gates and Deep Diving Ports both had a "shelf life." With continuous testing, sampling, external stimulation, and throwing all sorts of random things like probes into the Abyss Gate, each exchange of information reduced the Gate's stability.
