The Sovereignty Nexus of this world was an artificial miniature star system. Since it was artificial, it naturally did not conform to conventional rules: the system had no star. It consisted of a pair of dark twin stars and a vast number of Space Fortresses deployed around them along complex orbits. Not counting the fortresses that might be lurking within Space Folds, ready to fire from concealment, there were already several thousand confirmed large defensive stations. These massive space installations, resembling several stacked flying saucers, were even larger than Eternal-class Motherships. They fought using enormous numbers of drones and heavy fortress missile launchers, operating in the high orbit of the Sovereignty Nexus. Every Space Fortress had a fire coverage zone directly overlapping with at least five others. Even without hyperspace firepower, there was not a single gap to exploit. These gigantic structures formed the Sovereignty Nexus's defensive system itself—tough, durable, and tremendously powerful. Their drone swarms could effectively deal with rapid invasion forces like Assault Ships, while their heavy fortress missiles could inflict considerable damage even on motherships like the Eternal-class. At the same time, certain special Scanning Towers were hidden within the concealment fields of these Space Fortresses, and our Stealth Bombers had nearly suffered severe losses because of them.
The Fallen Apostle's mobile forces worked with these sturdy Space Bunkers to form an additional line of defense around the Sovereignty Nexus. Enemy fleets equivalent to three full-strength legions had all gathered in low orbit around the twin stars. The thick-skinned Space Fortresses intercepted nearly all of the Empire Army's Assault Ships, allowing the enemy fleet to hide behind the defensive line and trade main-gun fire with us at ease.
The blinding beams of the Star River Main Gun repeatedly illuminated the deep, dim void. The Empire Fleet faced
