The World Outside

The bamboo mat and low table Reimu had brought over, a place for everyone to chat, pig out, criticize, and brag in the afternoon, were now occupied by an unfamiliar little girl.

She was a girl-like creature who could practically be classified as a loli by appearance alone. She wore a white sleeveless blouse and a dark bluish-purple triple-layered pleated skirt, an energetic-looking outfit. Her long pale-yellow hair fell all the way to her waist, casually gathered at the ends by a white hairband. It should have been a very demure hairstyle, but the large red bow atop her head gave her a touch more playfulness. Her face looked remarkably young, her large eyes reflecting a reddish-brown gleam in the night. Yet aside from her appearance, the most eye-catching things about her were the purple gourd in her hands, twice the size of her head, the iron chains wound around her body, and the pair of huge horns on her head.

Sitting opposite the girl was someone we had met today: the little winged tengu girl, Shameimaru Aya. The two had taken over Reimu's low table—though considering how Reimu had acquired it, it should really have belonged to me—and were busy trading drinks. As we approached, a powerful aroma of alcohol hit us head-on.

"Yo, Reimu, and Yukari. You're back?"

The girl with the strange huge horns raised the enormous gourd in her hand and greeted us from afar. The clear sound of sloshing liquid came from within it.
