The four True Relics had provided Su Heng with a total of two hundred points.
Including the one hundred and fifty points he had obtained earlier.
So far, Su Heng had gained a total of three hundred and fifty points. After subtracting the initial fifty points used on Gamia, he still had three hundred points available.
That was more than enough to unlock the next template.
Sure enough.
Not long after absorbing the True Points, a system notification appeared before him.
It was a line of faint gray text.
Congratulations, Host. The second template has been unlocked. True Points required to unlock the next template: 950.
Unlocking the third template required one thousand True Points.
Subtracting the extra fifty points Su Heng already had, he still needed the nine hundred and fifty points indicated by the system.
It was clear that the further he progressed, the more True Points it would cost to unlock templates.
However, as his templates grew stronger, collecting True Relics would also become much easier.
Especially once Gamia had a large number of believers. He could issue missions and have them collect relics for him, which would definitely be far more convenient than working alone.
"I wonder what kind of miraculous creature the second template will be."
Su Heng was filled with anticipation.
Unfortunately, he only had half an hour of game time left today.
He needed to save that time for Gamia in case of emergencies. Even if he forcibly logged into the new template, he would not get much of a gaming experience out of it.
Besides, quite a lot had happened tonight.
So.
Su Heng opened the yellowed ancient book, intending to study it and see what exactly it recorded. He would log into the second template after the cooldown refreshed at midnight.
The yellowed ancient book looked quite old.
The writing on it was blurry, and the pages were covered in dry cracks. As Su Heng flipped through it, he used his communicator to photograph and save each page.
This was to keep a copy for himself and avoid losses caused by improper storage.
There was not much content in the book, only around thirty-four pages. Most of it was occupied by black-and-white stick-figure illustrations of the human body.
Though these drawings, sketched with crude lines, were highly abstract, every movement was full of power.
Each illustration had dense annotations beside it, but the script differed greatly from the writing commonly used today.
Based on the small portion he could make out, Su Heng guessed that this book was likely some kind of martial arts manual passed down from the Golden Age.
Before the Red Moon descended.
Humanity in this world had once possessed a remarkably glorious civilization, with advanced technology and highly concentrated populations.
Unfortunately, after the Red Moon appeared, worldwide fog first cut off communications. Then came endless natural disasters, plagues, giant beasts...
As well as mysterious and deadly restricted zones.
Historical records stated that every time a restricted zone appeared, vast numbers of mutant beasts and Polluted Bodies would emerge from nowhere, nearly endless in number. Even carpet-bombing them with nuclear bombs had little effect.
The laws of physics within the restricted zones seemed different from those outside. According to records, fusion weapons powerful enough to easily destroy an entire city—
Would not even raise a ripple after being fired into a restricted zone.
They vanished without a trace in an instant, like a clay ox sinking into the sea.
As the restricted zones expanded step by step, they continually compressed humanity's living space.
Several centuries after the Red Moon appeared, the remaining humans could only huddle within a few massive cities, barely clinging to life.
"This book may be even more valuable than I imagined."
Su Heng fell into thought as he looked at the ancient book in his hands. "But it's troublesome that I can't understand the writing."
"I need to find someone to help translate it..."
A spark of inspiration flashed through his mind.
He suddenly remembered that his cousin Su Yue seemed to study this sort of thing.
Should he ask her?
He checked the time. It was around ten at night. Su Yue was a night owl, and it was not yet time for her to sleep.
He bundled up the photos he had just taken and sent them to his cousin by email.
"Can you help translate the images above?" Su Heng added a message at the end of the email.
"Beep beep!"
Not long afterward, Su Yue sent back a message. "No problem!" She even added a sticker saying, Leave it to me.
"Where did you get this book?"
"A flea market."
Su Heng thought for a moment, then casually made up an excuse.
"Cousin, your condition has improved a lot lately. You even have the leisure to study this stuff now."
"But the writing on it is very blurry, so translating it will be a bit troublesome. It'll probably take some time."
The two messages arrived almost at the same time.
Seeing that Su Heng's condition had improved, the little girl was genuinely quite happy.
"By the way, have your exams finished? Your studies come first. Things aren't urgent on my end."
Su Heng glanced at the calendar. It was already late July, and he truly wasn't sure whether Su Yue's classes had ended for the semester.
"Sigh, it's fine. Did you forget? My mom is the department head."
Su Yue typed at lightning speed.
She ended it with a cool sunglasses emoji.
"..."
Su Heng was speechless. He knew his cousin's family was well-off, but he really hadn't known that his aunt taught at a university.
The original owner might have known, but Su Heng had transmigrated here and had spent most of his time battling illness.
There really was no need to dwell on trivial matters.
"Alright, I'll have to trouble you this time."
Su Heng replied, "When you come back for summer break next time, I'll treat you to barbecue."
"It's a deal." Su Yue replied with a drooling emoji.
After the chat ended, Su Heng sorted out the relics on the table and locked them in the cabinet together with the two relics he had collected earlier.
He lay on the bed and turned onto his side, glancing at the bright moon outside the window.
The two worlds were entirely different, yet at this moment, the moonlight was equally pure and bright, without the slightest difference.
Swish!
Su Heng reached out and drew the curtains. Not long after, he sank into a deep sleep.
The night was deep.
Everything was swallowed by darkness, invisible in the blackness.
Yet this mountain range was far from peaceful. Within the lush forest, wild beasts roared, their low growls rising like waves. Countless trees trembled violently, and from time to time, entire swathes of Giant Trees came crashing down with thunderous booms as the beasts fled in panic.
And deep within this mountain range, in an inconspicuous valley.
A soft, hazy emerald light flickered.
Looking closely, it was actually a tender, fragile branch. Its leaves were crystal-clear like jade, and faint, gentle specks of light drifted through the air with the wind, creating a feeling of serene beauty.
The night breeze rustled as a consciousness silently descended upon this mysterious and dangerous mountain range.
Awakening from the dream once more, Su Heng was greeted by an entirely different sight.
He was stunned at first, but after growing familiar with his surroundings, he could not help but sigh.
"This second template is actually a Willow Tree."
