Philosopher's Stone

After leaving the Weasley family, Wes returned to Hogwarts. Here, he could focus wholeheartedly on researching his goal—the Philosopher's Stone.

The Philosopher's Stone was a treasure every Alchemist dreamed of. It could turn ordinary metals into gold and even grant its holder eternal life.

Wes carefully raised a Philosopher's Stone and placed it beneath the warm sunlight.

Calling it a stone was not entirely accurate. The Philosopher's Stone had a highly unusual form of existence: it was neither solid nor liquid. This unique property had earned it the name "Fifth Entity."

Beneath its dazzling radiance, Wes seemed to sense the pain and wails of the souls imprisoned within the stone.

"I absolutely cannot use the Philosopher's Stone directly."

Wes knew very well that while the Philosopher's Stone could extend life, its creation involved the sacrifice of human souls. After being transformed into the Philosopher's Stone, those souls were filled with resentment and pain.

If used directly, the souls' resentment might erupt at some point and inflict unpredictable harm upon the user.

Unless he spoke with them one by one like Hohenheim and soothed their resentment. But that would require a great deal of time and energy, and Wes currently had neither.

Wes longed to use the power of the Philosopher's Stone, yet he did not know how to eliminate the severe consequences of using it directly.

"I need to gather all the information related to the Philosopher's Stone," he muttered.

The Philosopher's Stone was not unique to any one world. Legends of it existed in many worlds.

"Philosopher's Stone."

"Stone from Heaven."

"Touchstone" and "Elixir of Life"—these were all alternative names for the Philosopher's Stone.

Wes suspected that in the world of "Harry Potter," the "Magic Stone" refined by Nicolas Flamel might have been a Philosopher's Stone.

Unfortunately, the Magic Stone had already been destroyed by Dumbledore. Otherwise, Wes could have compared them. Thinking of this, he could not help feeling a trace of regret.

He placed Nicolas Flamel's Alchemy notes, the materials he had gathered in the alchemy world, and the method for creating the Philosopher's Stone on his desk.

Then he spread out a sheet of draft paper, held a quill, and focused intently.

"It's time to begin," he said softly. Then he buried himself in his research, his quill constantly moving as it recorded every idea and discovery.

Every word and every symbol marked a step in his search for truth. Step by step, he advanced toward his goal.

For three entire days, Wes did not leave his office once.

He was completely immersed in his research and forgot the passage of time.

All his food and drink were delivered by the loyal Jandi.

Jandi silently supported Wes without a single complaint.

The office floor was covered with countless sheets of paper, all filled with Wes's thoughts and explorations.

His hair had become disheveled, his eyes were red from prolonged research, his fingernails were stained with ink, and he carried the distinctive smell of someone who had been intensely focused on work for too long.

"The Philosopher's Stone from that alchemy world is too sinister. It was refined from an entire country, with the souls of millions forged into a Philosopher's Stone. It was undoubtedly using other people's lives to extend one's own, which is why it produced resentful souls."

"What about the Magic Stone? What is its principle? Nicolas Flamel's Alchemy notes don't record it!"

Frustrated, Wes crumpled the draft paper in his hand into a ball and casually tossed it onto the floor. He let out a long sigh. "So annoying~~"

Wes wished he could force Nicolas Flamel to reveal the method of creating the Magic Stone with his wand, but he knew that was impossible.

After entrusting the Magic Stone to Dumbledore, Nicolas Flamel had vanished from public view. Even Dumbledore did not know his whereabouts.

Besides, Wes knew he could not threaten someone like Nicolas Flamel, a man who faced death head-on.

He rubbed his face, trying to clear his mind.

He knew he had to find another way.

"The Philosopher's Stone truly can extend one's lifespan. The most important thing is how to deal with the resentful souls inside and turn the Philosopher's Stone into a pure body of energy."

With this new line of thought, Wes intended to continue his research, but his head felt groggy and he could not concentrate.

"What's that smell?" He suddenly noticed a sour stench. Upon realizing it was coming from himself, he immediately cast the Scouring Charm on himself and removed the strange odor.

He opened the window and let fresh air pour into the room. The crisp air seemed like a clear spring flowing into his heart, bringing him a touch of comfort.

At that moment, he saw the young wizards returning to school with their trunks.

"The holiday is already over? No wonder my head feels so dizzy," Wes said to himself.

Sleepiness surged over him like waves, one after another.

Wes could no longer hold on. He returned to his dormitory, took a hot bath, and collapsed comfortably onto his bed.

His body seemed drowned in exhaustion. The instant his head touched the pillow, he fell asleep.

Jandi then came to Wes's office and, like a conductor, traced paths through the air with its fingers.

The sheets of draft paper in the room rose one by one into the air, stacked themselves neatly, and gently settled onto the desk.

The disorderly books and materials seemed to grow little feet of their own, arranging themselves in order.

The quill and ink bottle returned to their original places as well.

The stains on the desk and floor were cleared away.

After finishing everything, Jandi revealed a satisfied smile and left the office.

Wes slept until noon the next day, when the intense swelling sensation in his lower abdomen woke him from his deep sleep like an urgent alarm clock.

Still bleary-eyed, he got up and hurried to the bathroom to take care of the matter.

He had planned to go back to sleep, but his stomach chose that moment to growl loudly.

Wes slowly climbed out of bed.

"Master," Jandi appeared at just the right moment, its voice respectful and gentle. "Shall I prepare lunch for you?"

Wes glanced at the time. It was nearly lunchtime. After thinking it over, he decided to eat in the dining hall with the students. Perhaps it would help him relax his taut nerves.

"No need. I'll eat in the dining hall."

As he spoke, Wes walked toward the washroom.

After washing up, he straightened his clothes and made his way steadily to the Great Hall.

In the Great Hall, the twins and Ron's siblings immediately waved excitedly when they saw him.

Seeing them, Wes's lips curved slightly upward, and he gave them a small nod.

Then he turned and walked over to the professors' table.

He lightly tapped his plate with his knife. With a crisp sound, a steaming steak instantly appeared on the previously empty plate.

The steak was appetizingly colored and gave off a rich aroma that curled into Wes's nostrils, making his mouth water.

In less than three minutes, Wes devoured the steak like a whirlwind.

Yet his stomach still felt completely empty.

He lightly tapped the tabletop, and another steak quickly appeared.

He continued wolfing down his food. Only after finishing three steaks in a row did Wes finally put down his knife and fork with satisfaction, carefully wiping the corners of his mouth with a napkin.

"When did a Troll sneak into the school?" Snape's mocking voice came from the left side of the table.

The other professors also stared at Wes in astonishment.

"I've been researching something recently and haven't had time to eat properly," Wes explained calmly.

Several professors nodded in understanding, their expressions showing sympathy.

"I was like that when I was young too." Headmaster Flitwick sank into his memories. "That period was painful, but fulfilling."

"Have you achieved anything?" someone asked curiously.

Wes shook his head helplessly.

The other professors comforted Wes one after another, telling him not to rush.

Only Lockhart smugly declared that he would share his experience of success with Wes. He was brimming with confidence, as though he were the most successful man in the world.

However, the moment the professors saw that he was about to speak, they each found an excuse to leave.

Looking at Lockhart, Wes inwardly sighed. He had never seen anyone so shameless.

Lockhart's performance also ruined Wes's appetite, and he returned to his office.

The moment he closed the door.

"Ding!"

The panel appeared automatically.
