"Wait!"
At the gladiatorial arena, someone cried out in terror, "Did something go wrong? We came to join the Rocks Pirates!"
Both groups were pirates. Beehive Island never lacked these kinds of guys who came knocking, wanting to latch onto someone powerful.
But as soon as they arrived on Beehive Island and stated their intentions, they were controlled.
"This is a selection process right now," Roa said with a smile. "The Rocks Pirates don't accept trash. Prove your worth to me with your swords."
The two groups of pirates froze, then their gazes towards each other turned dangerous.
If it was the Rocks Pirates, such a selection wouldn't be strange, right?
The world's strongest pirate crew certainly wouldn't recruit trash.
On the throne, Roa leisurely rested his head on his claws. Pirates were such easily fooled people.
He sat back, waiting for the meal.
The two groups of pirates in the arena subconsciously tightened their grips on their weapons, eyeing each other warily. They didn't rush to attack, after all, even beasts had to assess the power difference with their prey before hunting.
Roa wasn't in a hurry either. He didn't urge them on, merely watching with great interest. He loved watching a good show the most.
"Attack!"
The peace treaty was torn apart at that moment. The two groups of pirates, led by their respective captains, launched their attacks against the enemy.
It should be said that they were worthy of sailing the New World; the two pirate captains were not weak. They clashed head-on the next instant, sparks flying as their great swords and longswords met, the shockwaves kicking up dust from the ground.
Then, the two groups of pirates also charged into the fray, shouting and roaring.
In an instant, blood splattered and limbs flew.
"Mmm!"
Roa took a deep breath. "Quite good."
The pain and despair felt by intelligent beings amidst disaster were, to Roa, the most delicious food.
"But, it's still lacking something."
Roa looked at the pirates furiously slaughtering each other below and muttered to himself.
The battle between the pirates didn't last long. After about ten minutes, a victor emerged.
There was a slight difference in strength between the two captains. After one captain painstakingly killed the enemy captain, the battle became one-sided. The victorious captain was like a tiger entering a flock of sheep, unstoppable.
This was the norm for battles in this world. Except for exceptions like the Rocks Pirates, in a normal pirate crew, the captain's strength alone surpassed that of the entire rest of the crew combined.
However, despite winning, this pirate crew had also suffered significant losses. Only a dozen or so people were still standing, and they were all covered in wounds.
But they had won!
"Oh! Amazing!"
Roa couldn't help but sit up straighter. "You won so quickly? I haven't even had my fill of watching yet."
The victorious pirate captain planted his longsword into the ground, tilted his head back, and looked at Roa expectantly. "In that case, we can join the Rocks Pirates, right!"
"Hm?"
Roa turned his head in surprise and asked Dylan, who was standing beside him, "Dylan, did I say they could join the Rocks Pirates if they won?"
Dylan calmly shook his head. "You just told them to prove their worth."
The pirate captain's face gradually turned pale. "You, what do you mean?"
"It means, I'm very sorry, you didn't pass the selection," Roa said with a sigh. "As I said, the Rocks Pirates don't accept trash. You defeated a bunch of trash, but that doesn't mean you aren't trash yourselves."
The fact was, the pirates sent to Roa had already been pre-screened. Truly valuable pirates had long been incorporated into the main fleet.
Roa wasn't picky either; it wasn't that the stronger the strength, the higher the quality of black energy released in pain.
"You bastard! You're playing me!!"
The pirate captain's eyes were bloodshot. He pointed his longsword directly at Roa. "I'm going to kill you!"
"What?"
Roa looked incredulous. "You dare to resist me, an executive of the Rocks Pirates?"
Visibly, fear appeared on all the pirates' faces.
It was precisely because they yearned for the Rocks Pirates that they understood Rocks' terror.
"That's right! It's good that you're scared," Roa said, acting like a bully. "Then hurry up and kill yourselves now, so I don't have to do it myself."
A flush of red instantly appeared on the pirate captain's pale face, his cheek muscles twitching uncontrollably. "You brat! Die for me!!"
Since they were going to die anyway, why not go all out! Make this bullying bastard accompany them to the grave!
The pirate captain roared as he charged directly at Roa, dragging his heavy longsword.
He leaped at the edge of the arena, using the wall to propel himself up into the ten-meter-high spectator stands.
"Whoa!"
Roa couldn't help but praise, "Nice moves!"
"Die, brat!!"
The pirate captain leaped up, his heavy greatsword cleaving directly down at Roa's head.
Roa's follower, Dylan, showed no reaction, as if he hadn't seen a thing.
Then, with a loud clang, the greatsword struck Roa's forehead.
The pirate captain's hands jolted violently, his expression changing drastically.
It was like striking a hard steel ingot; his greatsword shattered, and the skin between his thumb and forefinger was torn open by the impact.
"How is this possible!!"
He couldn't believe it.
Was it Haki?
But he's so young!!
Roa smiled. Myths from his past life said that Qiongqi's body was covered in sharp, hedgehog-like quills, so it made sense that his fur had incredible defensive capabilities.
"Now do you understand why you failed the selection? Always look for your own faults first."
As he spoke, his mouth, filled with ferocious fangs, opened, "Roar!!"
A world-shattering tiger's roar!
The air rippled in concentric circles, and dust instantly kicked up from the arena floor.
In the arena, the pirates clutched their ears in pain, as if they were about to burst, and it wasn't an exaggeration. The slower pirates even had blood streaming from their ears.
The pirate captain who had charged at Roa was directly blown away, crashing heavily onto the arena floor.
"Arghhh!"
He writhed on the ground in agony, blood flowing from his seven orifices, and even his skin was oozing blood.
There's an idiom, "Tiger roars, dragon cries," and a fierce tiger's roar is a form of attack. For Roa, it manifested as sonic attacks.
Lion's roar, no, Tiger Roar technique!
Super strong defense, roaring sonic waves, and the authority to control Natural and Man-made Disasters – this was the full extent of Roa's abilities at the moment.
"Everyone,"
Roa stood up leisurely, looking down at the terrified pirates, "You may begin to feel fear now."
Bronze patterns spread across the large horns on his forehead, and dark clouds instantly gathered in the sky above the arena, with lightning flickering within them.
Then, under the pirates' despairing gazes, lightning struck.
Boom boom boom boom!
The entire arena shook from the falling lightning.
Roa took a deep breath, drawing the dense black energy into his nostrils. "Mmm, this is ten times more delicious now!"
Humans, as a species, only experience the most extreme pain and despair after their hopes are shattered.
The black energy born at such times was the most delicious and nutritious.
Another day of ridding the world of evil, and the bounties on these two pirate captains were both over fifty million.
He had obtained delicious food and dealt with two groups of wicked pirates – a true win-win.
"Dylan, I'll leave the rest to you."
Roa lazily slumped back onto his throne, full and ready for a nap.
"Yes, Lord Roa."
Dylan nodded calmly; it was his turn to clean up the mess.
However, Roa's nap didn't last long.
"Roa! You're back, right! Come out and play!"
A boisterous voice woke him.
Yawning, Roa pushed himself up from his throne and happened to see Dylan bringing someone over.
"How annoying, Katakuri, disturbing someone's dream is punishable by execution."
Roa complained.
The boy who arrived was almost as tall as two Roas, with a mouth full of ferocious fangs, stitched lines on his cheeks, and carrying a trident.
His name was Charlotte Katakuri, three years older than Roa, and considered his childhood friend.
Because he was ugly, other than his siblings, Roa only had one friend.
Katakuri laughed heartily, "I've never heard of any law like that on Beehive Island! Enough talk, let's go have some fun!"
"I can't do anything about you,"
Roa sighed, "Who told you to be my good friend? Let's make a deal first, if I ever need your help in the future, you're not allowed to refuse, even if it costs you your life."
"One playdate costs my life? You really don't want to lose out on anything, do you?"
Katakuri scratched his head, "Whatever! Let's go!"
Fine, some afternoon tea wouldn't be bad.
