Kaecilius and the others, having received the blessing of Dormammu, Lord of the Dark Dimension, had barely stepped out of the church when they ran headlong into Ancient One Mage, who had emerged from a portal.
A person's reputation was like a tree's shadow. Even though their strength had increased greatly and they were caught up in fanaticism, Kaecilius and the others could not help feeling uneasy when they saw Ancient One approaching them.
"Master Kaecilius, you should not have done that," Ancient One said gently as she looked at him.
"Shouldn't have done what?" Ancient One's composure and gentleness somehow stimulated Kaecilius. He cast aside his unease and said darkly, "Shouldn't have read those forbidden books in the library? Or discovered your secret to immortality?"
"No. I mean you should not have stolen the Book of Energy, nor murdered the mages of Kamar-Taj." Ancient One remained calm. Kaecilius's words did not move her in the slightest.
"That is not what you should be blaming me for." Kaecilius slowly stepped back, only to discover that the surrounding space had somehow begun undergoing rapid, unimaginable transformations. He looked at Ancient One in shock and fury, only to see her lightly moving her fingers, dividing the space into separate sections and isolating Kaecilius from his subordinates.
Up was no longer up.
Left was right.
The directions of space shifted rapidly and chaotically under Ancient One's control. One moment, you were running across solid ground; the next, it would abruptly flip, sending you plummeting through empty air before you could react.
Some sections flipped directly into the sky. Then, amid screams, a spark-spitting portal appeared below, transporting them from this space to somewhere unknown.
In only a moment, Kaecilius was the only one left on a suspended platform, facing Ancient One across from
