"You've stumped me." Luke scratched his sparse, dry hair in annoyance as he sat in his seat. "I was created solely to maintain and upgrade this city. If you asked me what functions this city has, what it can do, its strengths and weaknesses, or its positioning, I could give you an accurate answer, because all of that falls within my responsibilities.
But the question you asked isn't under my jurisdiction!"
"What do you mean?" Hal looked bewildered. "Aren't you Luke?"
"I am Luke, but so what?" Luke gave him a strange look. "Was I not clear enough? I'm merely a creation, an avatar, Creator Luke with a defined scope of responsibility. You shouldn't be asking me those questions."
"Then who should we ask?" Hal and the others stared at Luke and pressed him for an answer.
"You should ask Prime Luke in the laboratory," Luke said naturally. "Of course, if he doesn't have time to see you, you can go see Capitalist Luke instead. But how he arranges things for you and your universe is anyone's guess."
"I was only gone for a while. Why does it feel as if an entire century has passed? I'm already having trouble understanding what you're saying." Captain also had a headache. In his memories, Luke had still been the one and only Luke. Yet after returning, he found everything had become such a mess.
"Do you want to speak with him? Then I'll leave the rest to him. My task was to escort Captain home, and I've done what I was supposed to do." As Old Luke spoke, his entire body sank into a mass of hazy radiance rising behind him, and then he vanished.
Everyone present fell silent for a moment before turning to look at Captain together.
"Don't look at
