Why could New Currency so easily replace conventional currency and become the currency sought after by Midgard, the Nine Realms, and even the entire universe? Beyond the energy properties it represented, the goods tied to it and purchasable with it were also of paramount importance.
After all, if you wanted to buy something you needed from a person or organization and could not take it by force, then all you could do was barter according to their demands or purchase it with the currency they specified.
Spells, lifespan, technology, products, equipment, Dimensional Materials.
The things New Currency could buy were simply too tempting. No one could resist them, especially lifespan. As a short-lived race in the Nine Realms, humanity's longing for longevity and aversion to death, like that of all living creatures, were engraved into their genes.
Even those oddballs who did not care about their own lives, as well as those who did not yet need to worry about their lifespan or health, could use New Currency to buy things that suited their tastes.
Compared with what conventional currency could buy, New Currency was practically beyond all reason. A single New Currency coin on the Black Market could fetch an astronomical price at auction, yet it was generally unavailable even at that price.
Aside from Hebron, the only sources of New Currency were S.H.I.E.L.D., the nations backing the Council, and major qualified corporations recognized by them.
Only recently had New Currency begun circulating in limited quantities, causing the amount on the Black Market to gradually rise. It went from nearly impossible to find, to rare, and then to relatively common, though the circulating supply was still scarce.
