Stephen opened a portal and arrived beside Darkseid. He swiftly placed five black boxes on Darkseid's limbs and neck. The instant they touched Darkseid's skin, the boxes extended into five Black Rings, fastening around his limbs and neck.

They were the same things Thor had placed on the surrendered Steppenwolf. Judging by how Steppenwolf's power had been successfully sealed, Restriction Rings were effective against the physique and powers of the New Gods Race.
