A blazing white pillar of light descended from the sky like a fleeting rainbow, appearing for an instant before vanishing. Once the light faded, several figures appeared, then quickly disappeared into the night before the Seekers could follow the trail to find them.
Sam jolted awake from his sleep. He abruptly sat up in bed, rushed to the window, and looked down to see the car he had just bought slowly starting up.
"Hey! Don't do this!" Sam grabbed his clothes from the bed with one hand and pulled them on, then rushed to the door, flung it open, and dashed outside like the wind. That car might have been who knew how many owners old, and it looked ancient, but it was still his first car. Their relationship was still in its honeymoon phase! If it was stolen, dad definitely would not casually buy him a second one.
So stealing cars was unacceptable!
Sam raced out the door at top speed. Yet even though he was fast, all he saw upon getting outside was the rear end of his car speeding away.
Sam cursed that car thief hundreds, thousands of times in his heart. In a hotheaded impulse, he had only one thought: he could not let the thief drive away in his car! He yanked up his bicycle, swung a leg over it, stomped down on the pedal, lifted his butt slightly from the seat, leaned forward, and pedaled with all his might, stubbornly trailing behind his own car.
The car weaved through the streets like a fish, heading toward a remote area. Sam, his head burning hot, followed without a care. His mind and eyes held only one goal: catch up to his car and take it back.
