History
Master Mage Wang uses the Mirror Dimension to conceal and protect an area from the outside world: people outside cannot see or touch it 131.
During the battle against Mangog, the Ancient One opens the Mirror Dimension to put distance between him and Odin. She reshapes it into a battlefield of floating platforms, then uses it to separate Mangog from Luke. Mangog is able to close the distance again 173 174.
After her promotion, the Ancient One revises the spell using characteristics of the Data Dimension. The resulting Mirror Dimension is a world of reflection between illusion and reality, rather than merely an illusory world in a mirror 430.
Abilities & Limitations
Concealment and containment
- An area protected by the Mirror Dimension cannot be seen or touched from outside 131.
- The revised version can contain even a lesser Dimensional Demon God without the captive noticing anything abnormal for a short time 430.
Spatial manipulation
- A caster can extend and rearrange space to change terrain during combat; the Ancient One creates floating platforms and increases the distance between combatants 173 174 430.
- Spatial separation is not absolute: Mangog overcomes one attempt to pull him away from Luke 174.
Revised reflection world
- The Ancient One’s revised spell is harder to master and consumes more energy 430.
- Learners risk becoming lost in it and confusing illusion with reality. Someone unable to face their own mind may believe they have returned to the real world while remaining trapped within their own world in the Mirror Dimension 430.
- During a confrontation with the Scarlet Witch, mirror-like ripples absorb overflowing scarlet energy and transfer it elsewhere 429 430.
