That meant the furnace before him was not one of the top-tier furnaces the Spirit Candle required.

"Forging weapons in furnaces is considered atonement by the giants----"
Just as he was seriously pondering this, Wazai returned with nothing to show for his efforts. Hearing him, he looked rather surprised.
"Making weapons is considered atonement?"
"What kind of logic is that? I remember the Giant race believing that weapons carried the sin of slaughter, so why would they make weapons?"
"That's clearly creating sin."
Wazai could not help saying.

"But even if the giants did not make weapons, conflict in the world would not diminish. Someone would always make weapons and bear that sin."
"Because the Dusk Giant once wrought a great calamity, the giants have always wished to atone to the world----thus, at intervals, they make weapons on the Day of Atonement and spread them throughout the world, so that the sins of the world may be transferred onto themselves----"
