Hippolyta reached for the sword hilt at her waist. She had not come out this time completely unprepared. The armor she wore was more than just for show, and the weapon hanging at her waist was certainly no decoration.
"Darkseid?"
As the DC Universe's infamous supervillain, Darkseid's fearsome reputation echoed throughout the entire universe. Wherever the Dark Lord went, he brought nothing but death and destruction.
The Amazons had fought Darkseid's subordinates back then. That battle had been exceptionally brutal, and in the end, they had only barely driven back the forces Darkseid had sent.
That meant Earth had long been among Darkseid's targets; it was simply impossible to know when he would truly make his move against it.
If he did attack Earth, then the Mother Box guarded by the Amazons would be the key to whether Earth could be protected once again—and at the same time, the enemy would surely do everything possible to seize the Mother Box. Sending someone ahead to investigate its whereabouts was hardly strange.
Yinsen had naturally thought of that as well. He had honestly forgotten about the Mother Box. He had merely mentioned needing a great deal of energy, intending it as an indirect rejection of Hippolyta's suggestion.
He had not expected it to cause such a misunderstanding. She had taken him for one of Darkseid's subordinates, hadn't she?
"No, I have absolutely nothing to do with that guy."
Yinsen waved his hands sharply. He had no desire to suddenly end up at war with Themyscira. How could he let the training time he had worked so hard to secure be ruined just like that?
"There was no special meaning behind what I said earlier. I only meant that my training requires vast energy. I wasn't looking for that kind of energy here."
