The Speed Force, a power unique to the DC world, was one of the most fundamental components of the entire universe.

In the Comic Universe, the abilities granted by the Speed Force were far more diverse. Unfortunately, most of them had not appeared in this world, and Yinsen did not know whether Barry Allen in this world could reach the level of his counterpart in the Comic Universe and fully develop the various abilities of the Speed Force.

This involved a fundamental difference in the settings of the Comic Universe and the TV Universe.

In the Comic Universe, the Speed Force represented the speed of light in that universe. Only when Speedsters connected to the Speed Force and ran at or near light speed could they be considered to have entered Speed Force mode, allowing them to display all kinds of formidable abilities—for example, a punch could be comparable to being struck head-on by a White Dwarf, or send an opponent flying decades or even centuries into the future.

Without "activating Speed Force mode," Speedsters could still run quickly, but the Combat Power they displayed was clearly several tiers lower. Even if they sprinted up to an opponent and threw a punch, it would have roughly the same effect as swinging a fist while standing still.

Furthermore, if the connection to the Speed Force was severed in the Comic Universe, only Barry Allen could return to Speed Force mode through his own power.

In other words, in the Comic Universe, only a state of light speed or near-light speed truly counted as activating the Speed Force.
