Chunin Ninja Exams

The Chunin Ninja Exams were about to begin. Signs had appeared some time ago—for instance, more and more "outsiders" had shown up in the Hidden Leaf Village, while Leaf ninja had gradually returned to the village and stopped taking long-term assignments away from home.

During an internal meeting, the Third Hokage, Hiruzen Sarutobi, had also asked the team leaders whether they recommended any Genin for the Chunin Ninja Exams. Kakashi Hatake, Kurenai Yuhi, Asuma Sarutobi, and Aoba Yamashiro had all recommended the Genin under their command for this exam.

This had caused some dissatisfaction from Iruka and sparked a minor conflict. In the end, however, the Third Hokage approved the recommendations of the several Jonin. By then, the Chunin Ninja Exams had officially been put on the agenda.

Compared to the other three groups, Yinsen had another problem to solve before he could take part in the Chunin Ninja Exams.

The first two stages of the Chunin Ninja Exams were taken in teams. Naruto and the others already had teammates, but Yinsen only had himself. He first had to team up with other Genin taking the exams before he could participate.

The Hidden Leaf Village was no stranger to such situations. There was no guarantee that the same group of Genin would take every exam together, nor that no Genin would register alone.

Thus, before the Chunin Ninja Exams, the Genin would generally be reorganized into teams so that those temporarily teamed up could get used to working with one another.
