The Preliminary Round of the Third Round of the Chunin Ninja Exams ended very quickly.

After Yinsen and Rock Lee's match, the only truly exciting fight had been the Hyuga Clan Gentle Fist showdown between Neji Hyuga and Hinata Hyuga.

The match that should have been the most exciting, Gaara versus Rock Lee, had been disrupted by Yinsen. The unlucky Hidden Sound ninja who became Gaara's opponent was the same guy who had previously attacked Kabuto Yakushi with sound waves.

If not for Yinsen, that Hidden Sound ninja would have been the only contestant from a "small ninja village" to advance to the Third Round. Of course, because he had gotten himself killed, he would not be appearing in the Third Round after all.

With the Preliminary Round over, the Genin who had won once again drew lots, which would determine their opponents in the Third Round.
