Shunsui Kyoraku put some distance between himself and Yinsen again, carefully observing the way Yinsen held his blade.
Though he could not see the blade in Yinsen's hand, he could roughly infer the nature of the weapon from Yinsen's stance and their earlier exchange.
"An odachi?"
"Captain Kyoraku's observational skills are truly impressive."
Unlike his match with Yoruichi, Yinsen readily admitted what weapon he held this time. Genryūsai Shigekuni Yamamoto watching from the sidelines and Shunsui Kyoraku standing in the arena merely assumed Yinsen could not be bothered to hide it; but Yoruichi and Retsu Unohana, who knew him better, were certain of one thing: This guy was up to something!
"Since you have already released your Zanpakuto, I suppose I shall release mine as well!"
The two blades in Shunsui Kyoraku's hands, one long and one short, visibly changed shape as he spoke the release command: "Flowers scattered in disarray, flower god weeps; heavenly winds in turmoil, heavenly demon laughs, Katen Kyokotsu!"
Yinsen did not have the habit of standing by and watching his opponent prepare for battle. Even if this was only an assessment, he would not let his opponent strike a pose, ramble on, and then attack.

The odachi's length did not necessarily make the thrust any more powerful, but it undeniably extended its range considerably.
Although he had confirmed that Yinsen held an odachi, Shunsui Kyoraku could not determine its exact length. Thus, when faced with Yinsen's sudden attack, he chose to retreat and widen the distance, swinging Katen Kyokotsu as he unleashed Inefficient Top.
This move released spiraling Tornado Blades. Once an enemy was hit, they would be wrapped up and shredded by the razor-sharp wind blades.
