"I only know that he used to be a captain of the Thirteen Court Guard Squads."
Renji Abarai was now sure that Ichigo Kurosaki truly had no idea.
"Mr. Yinsen really was the former... no, the former former captain of the Tenth Division."
The current captain of the Tenth Division was Toshiro Hitsugaya, the most famous prodigy in Soul Society. The previous captain had been Isshin Shiba, who had suddenly vanished twenty years ago. The captain before him had been Yinsen.
Renji Abarai did not explain the succession of Tenth Division captains to Ichigo Kurosaki. It was enough for him to understand that Yinsen had been the Tenth Division's captain two generations ago.
"He wasn't captain for very long, but even now, many Soul Reapers still remember his name."
"Why is that?"
According to Renji Abarai, Yinsen had only held the position of Tenth Division captain for around ten years before leaving Soul Society alongside Kisuke Urahara, the then-captain of the Twelfth Division, and Yoruichi Shihoin, captain of the Second Division.
Most Soul Reapers no longer knew the exact reason. The few senior figures who did know refused to discuss it, and all anyone knew was that it had apparently been a very serious matter.
