When he gripped the Sunstrider Warhammer and ignited the solar corona, Chief Architect Lihuvim appeared silently before him. Yet there was no battle intent in the latter—only curiosity toward the individual before it.
And its very first words made Diakum lower his weapon.
"An'she. Did you create him?"
Dick asked, then repeated the question in the language of the First Ones.
This musical language was truly unfriendly to a biological throat, but fortunately, Diakum's "talent for languages" was quite impressive.
He completed the question smoothly.
The Chief Architect was not surprised. It seemed to regard An'she speaking fluent, elegant First One language as perfectly normal.
Faced with Diakum's question, the Chief Architect circled him in a manner of "phase shifting." With every step, it silently appeared in a random location. It had no eyes, but its way of observing the world was clearly more meticulous and profound than that of mortals.
"You are not An'she."
The Chief Architect sighed.
"You are merely a mortal—a mortal illuminated by the Holy Light and shrouded in shadow. You are An'she's inheritor, a soul personally chosen by him and bestowed with great power.
