Sylvanas was thrown into the icy water.
She was losing blood.
But even more terrifying than the blood loss was the coldness spreading through her body.
It was the power of death spreading. The instant Frostmourne pierced her and delivered its fatal blow, it had already torn away a small piece of her soul and released death's "gift" into her dying body.
She would cross the gates of death, then be "reborn."
Though she was not a spellcaster, she had come from a "kingdom of magic" like Quel'Thalas. When the concentration of Arcane Mages in a place was too high, its people always understood all things more deeply than those elsewhere.
The second Windrunner sister knew what she would suffer, but she no longer had the strength to resist.
Even as she sank through the water, passing the Naga constantly surging toward the surface, Sylvanas saw a mysterious vision.
She saw a pale elf with black hair standing with her back turned. It was a cruel, cold soul. The rippling surface of the water was like a mirror, separating the two amid swaying light as though they stood in two different worlds.
And when their eyes finally met, Sylvanas saw the blood-red eyes of the female elf across from her.
It was a face she did not recognize, but she knew that the soul hidden within that cold, vicious body was her.
Another her.
The Banshee Queen Sylvanas!
Windrunner struggled. Her long golden hair spread through the water, and amid the twin agonies of drowning and death, she wanted to get away from the Banshee Queen watching her.
But the latter reached out toward her, as if to embrace her, as if saying that this was the shared fate of all "Sylvanases."
They would always face Frostmourne in a city
