My Youth Romantic Comedy Is Wrong, As I Expected / My Youth Romantic Comedy Is Wrong, As I Expected
"We changed the mascot's name... to Yukihama-jin."
"Not Yukihama... but Yukihama-jin?"
What was that supposed to be? Next year's Super Sentai? Ugh, no recent show would use "-jin" in its name.
Yuihama guiltily rubbed out Yukihama's eyes with an eraser.
She watched my reaction from the corner of her eye while carefully wiping them clean, then redrew the eyes herself.
"Add Hachiman's Man, and it becomes Yukihama-jin. That way, it has an element of you too."
The eyes she drew looked just like Hachiyou-kun's. Those dead fish eyes she had bragged about having memorized well enough to draw easily. It was undoubtedly Hachiman-kun.
"Say, are my eyes the only thing that makes me me...?"
I looked at Yukihama-jin again and was surprised to find that the design suited it strangely well.
Damn it, if the face was that of a beautiful girl, did even dead eyes look good? That was so unfair.
"This is the Service Club's memory mascot... Its features are so distinctive, you couldn't forget it even if you tried!"
Yuihama smiled at the drawing in her hands, her expression revealing all sorts of emotions.
As though cherishing memories of the past. As though entrusting memories to the future.
Yuihama looked over mischievously, held up the picture of Yukihama-jin before her face, and waved it at me.
She poked her head out from behind the paper and met my eyes, then pulled her face back behind it again.
She was not using the mascot as a mask to hide herself, but acting as someone who breathed life into memories. As the girl who connected the hearts of the three members of the Service Club.
She cheerfully called out that greeting.
"Hi there!"
