History
Mo Shuying's arrival and the Lev incident
After the World Will diverted Mo Shuying from his intended return home, he awoke near Chaldea's Antarctic facility. Chaldea's guards detected him at its perimeter and escorted him to an interrogation room, where he was confined in an A-rank Boundary Field. 86 87
Soon afterward, an explosion at the central power plant caused a fire and forced an evacuation. Mo Shuying broke out of the Boundary Field and rescued four Mages from the blast. 87 The disaster was orchestrated by Lev Lainur Flauros, Chaldea's trusted second-in-command, who was exposed as a traitor and a Demon God Pillar seeking to restore Solomon's glory. 89
The explosion killed nearly 300 personnel. The Director, Mash, and Fujimaru Ritsuka were Spiritron Converted to Singularity F, while 47 injured Masters were placed in emergency cryogenic sleep. Romani Archaman organized the surviving staff, restored limited operations, and sought Mo Shuying's help as a reinforcement. 89
Restoration of Human Order
Chaldea used Spiritron Conversion to send personnel and supplies into Singularities. Its Heroic Spirit summoning system, previously successful only with Solomon, Mash's integrated Servant, and Da Vinci, was used again to bring forth new Servants. 90
Following the resolution of Singularity F, the surviving staff welcomed back Fujimaru Ritsuka, Mash, and the Director. Merlin later transferred the Director's soul into a doll body, and the restored Director promoted Romani to Vice Director. 113
Chaldea ultimately entered the Grand Time Temple Solomon for its final confrontation with Goetia. When the facility itself was nearly absorbed by the Temple of Time, Chaldea's mana nodes activated a powerful Boundary Field, and a pre-recorded backup plan covered the base in flowers that dissolved the attacking tentacles. 342 343
After Goetia's defeat, Chaldea escaped the collapsing Singularity and returned to a white world. Its prior observation had predicted that Human History would end in 2016; afterward, humanity had gained an additional two years beyond that limit. 348
Ownership dispute
After Chaldea disappeared for two years, the Mage's Association considered its status unclear and regarded its time-and-space technology as a valuable asset. The Wandering Sea warned Mo Shuying that a family had offered to purchase the organization, while also inviting Chaldea to join them. 351 352
Gordolf Mujik of the Gordolf Family bought Chaldea from the Clock Tower after the Anima-Sphere Family's extinction. When Chaldea reappeared, Mujik attempted to reclaim it with 200 Homunculi; the Barthomeloi Family attached roughly 900 mercenaries to the expedition in an attempt to seize the facility themselves. 428 429
Chaldea entered high alert, used its aurora-and-avalanche defense system to devastate the approaching force, then ambushed the survivors with its Servants. Flender was captured, while Mujik and the remaining Homunculi surrendered. 430 431 432
Mo Shuying publicly installed Mujik as Chaldea's new Director. The appointment serves to discourage further acquisition attempts, though Mujik has little practical authority and is kept under close watch. 433 434
Facilities and Systems
Spiritron Conversion
Chaldea's conversion system transfers personnel to and from Singularities across time and space.
- It sent the Director, Mash, and Fujimaru Ritsuka to Singularity F during the central power plant explosion. 89
- It can return personnel directly to the base after a mission, though the process has been used experimentally on Mo Shuying. 112
- Ancient destinations place extreme strain on the system; the Seventh Singularity's 2600 BCE setting limited how many people could be transferred safely. 279
- It uses designated transfer points and anchor locations for emergency extraction. 348
Heroic Spirit Summoning
Chaldea possesses a large Spirit Origin summoning array capable of calling Heroic Spirits without a Holy Grail. 90
- Its earliest successful summons were Solomon, Mash's integrated Servant, and Da Vinci. 90
- Chaldea's summoning technology is notable enough to attract the Clock Tower's interest. 437
- Da Vinci developed the portable Spirit Origin Gauntlet 1.0, but its initial test malfunctioned; it briefly summoned Space Ishtar, who vanished after approximately three minutes. 278
- Chaldea later successfully integrated Space Ishtar into its ranks after Mo Shuying used Command Seals to restrain her. 455
Defenses
Chaldea combines Magecraft, surveillance, and environmental defenses to secure its Antarctic base.
- Its outer perimeter detects intruders and triggers alarms. 86
- The interrogation chamber can deploy an A-rank Boundary Field. 87
- Reconnaissance drones monitor approaching forces, while a Magic Array Boundary Field can isolate outside information transfer. 431
- An aurora defense can trigger avalanches against hostile forces ascending the mountain. 430
- During the Temple of Time crisis, its mana nodes formed a powerful Boundary Field; its flower-based backup plan halted the base's collapse. 343
Personnel
- Gordolf Mujik — Publicly appointed Director after purchasing Chaldea through the Clock Tower; his position is used to deter further ownership claims. 433
- Romani Archaman — Organized the surviving personnel after the Lev incident and restored enough functionality to contact and support the Singularity F team; later promoted to Vice Director. 89 113
- Fujimaru Ritsuka — Chaldea Master who completed the Singularity F mission and became recognized as humanity's hope. 113
- Mash Kyrielight — Chaldea's surviving Servant during the initial crisis; protects the organization and fights alongside Fujimaru Ritsuka. 89 342
- Leonardo da Vinci — Chaldea-affiliated inventor responsible for experimental devices, Mystic Codes, and the portable Spirit Origin Gauntlet. 278 339
- Mo Shuying — External arrival who became one of Chaldea's principal Masters, defenders, and field operatives after exposing Lev and aiding the survivors. 89 436
Relations
- Mage's Association / Clock Tower — Chaldea is treated as a Mage's Association member, but the Clock Tower also claims authority over its ownership and uses requests for aid to assess Chaldea's loyalty and strength. 433 436
- Wandering Sea — Warned Chaldea of the Association's interest in acquiring the facility and offered it membership. 351 352
- Gordolf Family — Purchased Chaldea through the Clock Tower; its administrator, Gordolf Mujik, became Chaldea's public Director after the failed reclamation attempt. 428 433
- Barthomeloi Family — Attempted to exploit the Gordolf expedition and seize Chaldea through Bartholomew Flender's mercenary force. 428 431
- Heroic Spirits — Chaldea summons, houses, and deploys Servants in Singularity repair and defensive operations. 90 343
