Gu Shen stretched out an arm and held Xiao Man behind him.
Blazing Fire coiled around his arm. He turned slightly, preparing himself for the attack the Red Shadow would launch from the other end of the narrow bronze corridor.
But the place was terrifyingly quiet.
The Red Shadow, standing with both hands braced on its blade, did not strike first as it had before. Instead, it stood silently for several seconds.
Dim red light shot from its pallid mask.
Gu Shen knew it was scanning him... and Xiao Man.
"What is this thing doing?"

"I'm not sure..." Gu Shen said quietly. "Let's wait and see."
