Everyone had initially thought that once Rudger, the leader of the Dark Signers, was defeated, everything would be over. But even after all the Dark Signers had been defeated, astonishing energy had erupted from the Old Perpetual Motion Machine, and the Gate of the Underworld had still opened.
The final boss of the anime arc had been Godwin. Yusei, Crow, and Jack had fought three against one, and only defeated Godwin and drove back the King of the Underworld after two of them had been taken out.
Only after that had the Dark Signers who had originally died been reborn as Ordinary People.
But now Godwin had been replaced by Kira. He had originally thought that after defeating Rudger, the Gate of the Underworld would still open as it had in the original, and the King of the Underworld would appear and attempt to devour the entire world. Yet nothing had happened.
Nothing at all.
It was as though, after the Dark Signers had been defeated, everything truly had ended and the world truly had been saved.
Yet those Dark Signers who had died were still dead, and had not revived as they had at the end of the anime.
Kira could not help frowning.
Did that mean history had still been changed compared to the original?
But Kira had a strong premonition that this arc had not simply ended like this. The Dark Signers in the open had indeed been eliminated, but the Gate of the Underworld could still open. The King of the Underworld had not appeared directly as he had in the anime; perhaps he was merely lying low, waiting for an opportunity.
