"T.G. Transparent Lancer!" Antinomy said. "Attack Marshmallon!"
If this attack went through, he would win!
Yet as he reached the killing blow once more, Antinomy felt none of the excitement of imminent victory. Or rather, this coming victory did not feel real at all.
Can I really win?
Sure enough, the next moment, another Trap Card rose beside Kira's D-Wheel.
"I activate my Set Card, the Continuous Trap 'Soul Barrier.'
"As long as I have a Monster on my Field, all Battle Damage I take becomes 0!"
Transparent ripples immediately burst from the tiny, frail Marshmallon, like a soul burning itself to form an Absolute Defense barrier.
"So there was another trick."
As Antinomy thought that, a flash of lightning suddenly crossed his mind.
Wait.
Right.
Soul Barrier turned all Battle Damage into 0 as long as there was a Monster on the Field. Logically, piercing damage should be included as well. Then when he had used "T.G. Blade Blaster" to attack "Morphing Jar" and dealt a massive 2700 points of damage, his opponent could clearly have blocked it by activating Soul Barrier beforehand.
But Kira had not. He had chosen to take the damage, then used that damage to bring Marshmallon flying out of his Deck.
Though it could not be destroyed by battle, was such a weak Monster truly worth paying so many Life Points to summon?
Or was it...
"What sharp instincts. It seems you noticed something."
Kira smiled faintly.
"If you have a sense of danger, then let me tell you plainly: that feeling is correct."
The brief panic on his face had completely vanished, replaced by the mischievous smile of someone who had successfully tricked his opponent.
"To activate the Trap Card 'Damage Condenser' earlier, I Discarded to the Graveyard one card from my hand."
