Morning light poured through the slats of the blinds like liquid amber, casting mottled grids across the function formulas on the left side of the blackboard. As Professor Chronos drew white trails through the air with the chalk in his right hand, fine chalk dust danced in the beams of light.
Judai Yuki was like a robot running low on power, mechanically repeating a cycle of "nod off—jerk awake." The arm propping up his chin seemed frozen into a sculpture, with only his index finger unconsciously tapping his cheek as though keeping time with his drowsiness.
It was not until the arm supporting his chin finally tilted far enough that his entire head smacked down onto the desk, jolting him fully awake.
The surrounding students all looked over at him. Judai awkwardly scratched his head, yawned, and even brazenly stretched.
Professor Chronos: "..."
Back in the day, the Greedy Professor would probably have gone berserk already. Yet the professor watching this scene was unexpectedly patient. After taking two deep breaths, he turned around and continued teaching, pretending not to notice.
Forget it, forget it.
They were already third-years. Three years... honestly, he had developed some feelings for this failing student he had once found unbearable in every way.
Besides, this guy had an invincible right hand. No matter what kind of situation he found himself in, he could rely on the Topdeck Power in that hand to turn danger into safety. In the entire academy, there was only one person who could defeat Judai Yuki—or rather, perhaps there were very few people in the entire Dueling World who could beat him now.
If Judai Yuki did not want to listen to class, then so be it. Professor Chronos could not control him anymore.
Chronos turned and wrote
