That was another major difference between the anime and real-life version of Volcanic Dinosaur. The real card could not attack directly during the turn it activated its effect, but the anime had no such restriction at all.
No Once Per Turn restriction, massive damage from destroying monsters, and it could even keep attacking after blowing everything up.
It was no exaggeration to say that in a 4000 Life Point Environment, Volcanic Dinosaur was an outrageously overpowered OTK weapon. One moment of carelessness, and this thing would roast you into charcoal.
