"Number cards are bound to their holder's soul. They can only be extracted through special means," Kira said.
Even in the world of ZEXAL, only Astral could draw Number cards out of a duelist's soul without Side Effects—the prerequisite being that they first defeated that duelist in a duel.
But now that Taniguchi, the holder of the Numbers, had been defeated by Judai in a duel, that prerequisite had been met. Whether the power of the Numbers could now be successfully separated from his soul depended on KaibaCorp's technology.
Naturally, this was an entirely unknown new system. Even with KaibaCorp's Black Technology, it would take time to research, and they probably would not see results anytime soon.
Leaving Taniguchi at KaibaCorp for the time being, the two prepared to return to Duel Academy.
