Domino City.

Kaito Tenjo's black trench coat snapped in the torrential rain as he stood at the edge of a skyscraper, the web-like streets of Domino City beneath his feet. Rainwater dripped from his blond hair, splashing into tiny sprays against the metal ledge. The entire city warped and distorted behind the curtain of rain; neon signs became flowing halos of color, while the ribbons of headlights resembled cells moving slowly through veins.

Beside him, a robot that only reached his waist stretched out its neck and announced in a somewhat comical voice, "Scanning the Space-Time Anchor. Space-Time Anchor functioning normally."

The robot's name was Orbit 7, Kaito Tenjo's most loyal servant. It possessed a remarkably realistic humanoid AI. Though an artificial machine, it genuinely had its own joys and sorrows, and had even developed romantic feelings in the anime.

However, Orbit 7's deepest programming remained devoted to Kaito. It was truly unwaveringly loyal to him, the sort that would shatter itself to pieces for Kaito without uttering a single complaint.

This alone showed just how advanced the overall technology level of Yu-Gi-Oh! ZEXAL was. Orbit 7's love interest had even been a cleaning robot. Even cleaning robots could break through the technological singularity and possess emotions as real as a human's, even fall in love, and everyone in this world considered that utterly commonplace. Hardly anyone found it surprising.

In short, the setting of ZEXAL was a world where a bunch of monsters with superhuman physical abilities lived in a highly developed civilization with absurdly advanced technology.

Of course, no matter how impressive it was, this was still the World of Yu-Gi-Oh! Even if everyone had arm strength measured in tons and ultra-futuristic Black Technology, the only way to solve problems was still to play cards.
