Thick fog blanketed the sea. The searchlight tore through the wall of mist, its golden beam slashing down from the top of the cast-iron watchtower like a spear hurled by a god, stirring the viscous fog into spiraling vortices.

Jun Manjome came to the shore and sat down beside Fubuki Tenjoin.

The reason he called Fubuki his master was not because he had been won over by the other's superb card skills or the title of Blizzard King Fubuki. In truth, he did not acknowledge Fubuki as his dueling master at all. He was his master in the art of picking up girls.

Whenever the light swung due east, it illuminated the jagged reefs beneath the cliff, gnawed into fang-like shapes by the waves. Their shadows swelled and collapsed wildly beneath the harsh light, like a flock of black believers kneeling before the radiance.

Manjoume sensed that something was off with him. "Master, what's wrong? What are you doing out here alone?"

Fubuki pondered for a moment. "I'm trying to write a memoir."
