"So this is the end, then. My turn, draw."
Kira drew a card, then played it directly.
"Then I normal summon this card, 'Antlion Aromage.'"
The mischievous girl accepted the summon and leaped onto his field, a sly smile on her face as though she were plotting her next triumphant prank.
[Antlion Aromage, ATK 1600]
"Antlion Aromage's effect: when this card is summoned successfully, I can add one 'Void' Normal Trap Card or 'Trap Hole' Normal Trap Card from my Deck to my hand."
Kira took the card that automatically popped out of his Deck and waved it in his hand. "I add the Trap Card 'Bottomless Trap Hole' from my Deck to my hand."
Aromage was not the sort of Deck that excelled at launching direct assaults and instantly finishing an opponent off. It focused more on defensive counterattacks, disruption, and interruption.
"Wait," Droube warned. "Something looks strange about Becta!"
Sure enough, Becta staggered on his feet, waves of dark energy seemingly radiating from his body from time to time.
"Ugh... Aaaah!"
Becta let out a roar somewhere between pain and fury, like a wounded beast. Boundless darkness surged from within him in an instant, sweeping through the hall and occupying the entire space.
Droube exclaimed, "That's Don Thousand's Power! So Becta really..."
Darkness swallowed the hall, and with it came memories.
Memories from nowhere, like projected images cast directly into everyone's minds.
A legend. An ancient story.
The protagonist of the story was a kind prince. His father was a warlike king who could not accept that his son had been born a lover of peace, and the two repeatedly clashed due to their difference in ideals.
At last, as their disputes continued escalating, they turned into an accident, and both of the prince's parents died.
