Yugi raised an arm in front of him as the blast wave from the destroyed Dark Magician spread in all directions.
Though he had not taken the damage directly, Yugi could still feel it through the shockwave. This was not damage that should exist in a normal duel—it converted duel damage into a "real" impact.
"Dark Duel?" Yugi frowned.
After all, Yugi had already experienced the events of Duelist Kingdom and Battle City, and he had seen quite a lot. He had long known of the existence of Dark Duels.
"Ho, as expected of the first-generation King. You even know about Dark Duels?" Victor smiled. "But this isn't exactly a Dark Duel. It wouldn't be wrong if you saw it that way, though. In any case, it's something similar to a Dark Duel."
After a pause, he revealed a gloomy sneer. "Just like in a Dark Duel, if you lose, you die."

Yugi had more or less anticipated this already, so he was not overly shaken. After all, this was not the first time he had encountered a Life-Gambling Card.
Even without the other me... I have to win.
Victor said, "Set a Card. End Turn."
The final Set Card was slapped onto the Duel Disk, a layer of data stream rolling across it as it materialized into the form of a pitch-black card.
Yugi took a deep breath.
He had not expected his opponent, after suffering the card-destruction counterattack, to immediately summon such a powerful Monster. Even his ace, Dark Magician, had been defeated as soon as it hit the Field.
But he would not give up. He would find an opportunity to strike back this turn!
