"The Battle Phase," Kira said. "First, 'Spray Bug,' Direct attack!"
The several chimneys atop Spray Bug's head fired in unison once more, spewing vast clouds of purple smoke that instantly filled the entire arena, nearly engulfing the giant insect's whole body.
The enormous purple creature let out a savage roar and pounced at Bakura, whose Field had been left completely defenseless, like a starving tiger lunging at its prey.
Yet despite his Field being cleared and the attack threatening an instant kill, Bakura was not panicked in the slightest. Unhurriedly, he drew another card from his hand.
"Then I Special Summon this card from my hand, 'Vampire Young Lady'!"
A beautiful but pale girl in a Gothic dress descended onto the Field beneath a parasol. Her delicate fingers spread forward, releasing what seemed like a cloud of blood mist from her palm, forming a crimson barrier before her.
A soft cry from a girl came from Kira's side. "Eek."
Naturally, it was Kira's Vampire Young Lady.
Kira glanced at Qianjin, who had floated out beside him like a Ghost, and smiled. "A relative of yours?"
Qianjin put her hands on her hips irritably. "She doesn't even have a spirit. She's just a blank card."
Bakura had always been the progenitor of Zombie-Type decks in the Yu-Gi-Oh! world, so it was hardly strange for him to have Vampire Young Lady, a Hand Trap from the Zombie-Type family.
Even so, Qianjin puffed out her cheeks in displeasure. "Hurry up and deal with her, then steal that card for me. Even if she's just an empty shell, I still don't like looking at her."
"Hey, hey, did you forget that I'm the Master here?" Kira said with a smile. "What should you say when you're asking someone for help?"
Qianjin curled her lips.
